I speed frequently and drive "recklessly" occasionally, but driving in a large city it is the norm. If you do not drive aggressively you will get no-where. When I'm out in the suburbs I maintain a +5mph over the limit.

here come the fools who think speeding IS driving recklessly and want to know why the polls don't reflect this.

i used to be quite the speed demon, but as I've aged (from 16 to 20) I've changed my habits and really only go maybe 15 over the limit on the highway if other traffic is doing so too, or maybe i'll typically go 10 over unless there is too much slow traffic. on streets in the city, at worst i'll do 10 over these days, rarely that it seems. i've slowed down but my alertness hasn't changed. i.e. i've always been a very alert and tuned in driver, even with the blasting music and friends in the car. accident free too (well one, and was unavoidable because he backed out into the road). :knocks on wood:

Unless you're in full Rice Mode, I've found that a casual driving attitude + looking ahead > switching lanes like a douchebag trying to be first in line to the next red light.

Only in the most dire emergencies would I ever consider speeding, and then I would do so with focus and awareness so as to prevent as much recklessness as possible. You see, I'm a good person and as such I don't believe I have the right to threaten the lives of countless innocent people by screwing around in an automobile. As the poll is demonstrating most of you are ignorant, egocentric, self-centered, worthless wastes of human flesh who should have your licenses permanently revoked, if not serve jail time or execution for your determined potential attacks upon others. But hey, I'd expect nothing more from the general populace.

I usually go 5 mph or so above the speed limit, unless it's snowy or something. Recklessly, nope.

I usually do not speed (stay within 5 mph of the speed limit. I don't drive much, but there have been 4 occasions where someone would pass me (im in the slow lane) and just as they overtook me, a cop came and pulled the dude over. So, I just don't see the value of speeding just to save a couple minutes (at the risk of being late by 30 minutes due to pull over). If I were driving more than 300 miles, I would see the value of speeding though.

Just keep to the right, that's all we ask.

Edit: And shens on your supposedly extremely high intelligence. No intelligent person would post that.

I very rarely speed now that I have a clean record and am only paying $20 a month for insurance, and while I definitely try not to drive recklessly, I sometimes will get very close to the car in front of me to block assholes that run an ending lane out just to get ahead a few cars.

Edit: Also, LOL at executing people for speeding, and then claiming others are egocentric.

I speed, and the only time I drive recklessly is when I have to swerve very quickly to avoid the idiot who can't seem to stay in her own lane while turning. She get a big face full of middle finger as I sped off though

Do I speed? Yes, 10 mph over the speed limit is what I drive on highways and expressways. I always keep it at 25 on residential streets.
Do I drive recklessly? Only if there's a real emergency when I absolutely must get to some destination quicker (i.e. smth happened to relatives, wife forgot airplane tickets, and is at the airport - that kind of thing).
