I eat with a Fork and Spoon like my grandaddy I'l be damned if ever convert to those Spork things.

No... You eat with a fork and a spoon like the Romans.

God only knows why the technology disappeared during the middle ages. Damn slobs. LOL There's actually a restaurant in California called Medieval Times. I've never been there, but while living in California I'd often see the commercials. They have an arena with knights jousting and shit and you eat your food with your hands. Sounds interesting. If I ever buy a 12 pack of SCBA air tanks (smog) and a flipping tank and make back to California again...LOL I'll have to check it out.

Medieval Times is amusing, but expensive, and not as cool as a proper Ren fest. Took my daughter one year for her birthday. It was a fun time, but too schedule driven.

Wow, they have them out East too? It's like they skipped right over the midwest. Seems like they skip right over the midwest for a lot of things. Like my favorite Italian beef fast food joint in Chicago, Portillo's. They put one in Indiana and went all the way to San Bernardino (or was it Moreno Valley?) and placed one, but they completely skipped Colorado. This state has utter shit for food. It's rare to find a good pizza FFS. I go to Chicago and OMG! I eat like a damn king! I've never been to NY, but I'm sure they too have some damn good food, too.

Come to think of it. I wonder why Mr.Portillo hasn't put one in Vegas? That would be awesome.

That is not a restaurant, it's a show with shitty chicken.
Vegas has a similar show.

Medieval Times has a location in Toronto.

Yeah, I been there when I was a kid, but never eat there.

Shitty chicken you say? I bet it taste better than the carbon-infused petrified parmesan chicken I made the other night. I bet a starving Ethiopian wouldn't even touch this shit. At least last night's salmon was nice.

So does the media cause the optical drive from working? Because that's what has happened. No play, no record, no erase, no nothing. I've used Office Depot media, Sony and Memorex perfectly fine. It's not like the disks changed.

I have Flight Simulator data that's at least 10 years old now.

It could be both. Some optical drives are not built well and crappy media can damage the drive very easily. A drive can also damage crappy thin media. There used to be a well known cd burner. Not sure if they are around anymore. I think they are from taiwan.

Did you know that the reason why military vehicles now a days are all automatic is because they found out a lot of soldiers couldn't drive stick?
Don't they, like, train the military? Or is it like Labor-ready, just gather round at 6AM and then get deployed for the day? (Maybe we do need more Mexicans?)

What media do you prefer to use brand wise?

I've never served so I don't have the answers. Closest I came was wearing the Army uniform in JROTC.

I think it's all about efficiency and and having just one less thing to teach while in basic. I actually wonder if a Humvee would in fact benefit a solider on the battlefield? Perhaps, you can get more traction and control climbing shit and all that lot. But in this current time frame we find ourselves mostly in the Middle East, so it's pretty much a moot point. I mean, it's nothing but a big damn desert.

Tune to 2500 KHz, 5000 KHz, 10000 KHz or at least 15000 KHz. What you will hear is the atomic clock time signal station WWV in a town near me. In fact, you should be able to hear it quite well since you're farther away and how the signal propagates. Now this signal is not to be confused with the one atomic clocks use. They pick up a frequency at 60 KHz. I think it does come from the same station.

Hawaii actually has their own and I've picked that up a few times. Then on my Icom IC-R3 I was able to pick up the Cuban numbers station really well like it was just in Denver. It's all about propagation. In fact, when commercial aircraft go over seas they use shortwave to report their position. And you can pick that up too.

They must have done their research because the BBC sounds an awful lot like this. LOL

Haha yep I picked those up. Usually it's not that clear but other times it is. It's kinda funny since I did not know what it was so I just googled the frequency then found out it was from NIST. I was just using a piece of random lenght frame wire as an antenna though so nothing too fancy. If I made a proper long wire cut to proper lenght with ballun etc I'm sure I could pick up even more stuff.

Actually I totally forgot about the SDR stuff I ordered a while back, I still have to hook that up and play with it.

LOL! That reminds me of when I got my first shortwave radio and I found this constant and continuous Morse code. It was only three letters repeating over, and over again. We'll call the frequency 900 KHz. I never knew what that was for the longest time. Then when I started getting interested in aviation back in 2006 and flying in Flight Simulator I saw on my GPS and in an aeronautical chart a NDB (Non Direction Beacon) inline with the runway at the local airport. And wouldn't you know that it used the frequency of 900 KHz. So my question was answered about 10 years latter.

I actually did some propagation testing using that constant Morse code signal. I had old crystal-based CB radios, and the best thing with these is if you change the TX crystal with the RX crystal you can transmit out of CB band. Well, in the 11 meter band to be exact. So being a dumb high school kid I thought I had my own private frequency. So I wanted to see how far it went. I rubber band the push to talk and placed the CB next to my shortwave playing that Morse code and took the other CB and started to roam around town on my bike logging how far I was able to hear that signal. It actually went a couple of miles. I plotted it all on a map. And to think after all these years I was rebroadcasting an NDB. LMAO! If the FCC and the FAA knew I'd be in more damn trouble then David Lightman of War Games.

Haha I used to do stuff like that as a kid too. Made a FM transmitter and started playing random beeps on the top of radio. No idea how far it actually went, but my mom upstairs who had the radio on yelled at me to stop. lol.

I really need to get my ham license then I have a good reason to buy that 300 foot tower that's for sale near my city. lol.

That's like when I had a half wavelength dipole antenna cut for the CB band and every time I keyed the mic I'd interrupt the phone. LOL! I've had people tell me that with that one damn cheap antenna I was blowing people away.

We still allow faxing using a copper phone line at work. I want this to go the way of the DoDo sooner than later but it's still here and I have to deal with shit when it fails.

My stereo speakers are over 50 years old and to my ear still sound good. They are custom built large cubes, part of a set of 8 for my dad's early 60s stereo gear. One held a turntable, reel to reel etc. They have the original Phillips 12" 3 way speakers in them.
Nice, I still use my 1965 Acoustic Research AR2AX speakers that I restored to like new condition(rebuilt the crossovers) a few years ago....Found them at a yard sale for $5.

I use pro digital camera from 2001. For certain scenarios nothing better has been invented since IMO.

With no deals (FAR)going on like they used to, I really have no preference because I go through my old stock pile. I just use the thick media for important backup. What is thick? Well I purchased some cd at fry and they are so thin that it flakes off with a lot of handling. The thick ones like tdk, memorek , staples brand never flakes off and they last long. I use dvd+r for bigger backups. Cds for pictures. The not so important ones the thin cds . I have old taiyo yuden manufacturer that are supposed to be reliable. If the initial burn does not have any problem then you are good to go. Double check it by inserting you newly burn cd or dvd in another player to see if it reads. Simple process I also have a lot of problem with the rewritables.

I use my floppy drive desktop for checking my financial accounts. Have a 5 1/4 and 3 1/2 diskette as a backup in the desktop. Financial does not require huge backup so I am good with this setup. LOL

I use PS2 keyboards, though I do own a USB keyboard as well (Das II). I still have an AT keyboard as well as an AT to PS2 adaptor, though don't use regularly as the springs are in better shape on my newwer 90s era keyboard.
