People that drive cars with high fuel consumption contribute more to the upkeep of our roads and infrastructure than weenies that drive little econoboxes and brag about it.

Fuel efficient vehicles are un-American. Real Americans should be able to park the closest. Let the high-mileage owners wear out the soles of their environmentally friendly shoes.

So what happens if I park there with my 02 Expedition? They gonna make me drive a gallon's worth of gas and see how far I go.. under 30 I get a ticket?

I don't really see the logic behind this? I drive one of the most fuel efficient vehicles in the world, and I don't think I should have priority parking.. lol

No way. If your car gets 30mpg, good for you. Don't punish the rest of us.

Nothing would happen, except everyone would know you're an asshole.

Lot lizards... LOL! That's awesome.

To be absolutely honest, all something like this would do is make me spend $40 to e-bay a Hybrid FLEXFuel emblem with my truck and add it right next to the VortecMAX logo.

Boy would that fuck with people.

no. many handicapped vehicles (Ramp-equipped dodge caravans) do not achieve the 30 mpg, so this would not make sense.

Now, priority parking for American-made vehicles would be a more interesting ploy.

You'd spend $40 to pretend to copy with an unenforceable parking lot sign so you could park 20 feet closer the door?

Handicapped vehicles already get their own reserved spots.

There's a grocery store near me that has reserved parking for parents of small children, and the spots are actually closer to the door than the handicapped spots.

No, just because it would be hilarious to fuck with people. I guess you can't really understand the joke unless you see my truck. NOBODY would believe it got more than 7mpg after listening to it start, so it would be awesome to jack a close parking spot under false pretenses.

No... too hard to say who's actually fuel efficient. Does the Prius get the first spot, or maybe the Hybrid Civic? What about the crappy driver with the same Civic, but with poor gas-wasting driving habits and a poorly maintained vehicle (e.g. tire pressure very low, motor oil super old, soup'd engine) get the last spot?

Edit: Massive overhaul.

Store owner should have every right to do whatever he wants.

Customers also have every right to not shop there.

If Safeway did this, they would get so much backlash from their customers that it would be business suicide.

The one that ends up on top.

Judging by your attitude, I'd say you're more than just an asshole.

Up to the store owner.

Would be awesome though to see a Corvette in one of those spots though - they can get nearly 30mpg on the highway ya know

So this Cub Food store is going to make a soccer mom with 4 kids in an SUV or minivan park further away to make room for a smug yuppie in a Prius. That sounds like a dumb business decision for a grocery store.

Who's more fuel efficient? The person with the 35mpg car who makes 4 shopping trips a week? Or the person with the larger 25mpg vehicle who plans their shopping in advance & only makes 1 or 2 trips per month shopping?
