I'm a pretty big fan of the "multiple intelligences" type of thinking - that we are gentically predisposed to having different strengths in each of several areas of intelligence. Similar belief about physical attributes.

That said, intelligence guaranties nothing. It's valued to highly, when Wisdom is worth more. Proper socialization and experience prepare you for the right framework of understanding for facts, lessons and processes that you learn and retain. That is to say, two equally intelligent people could understand something on completely different levels, due to how they were raised and the persective their experience grants them. One might fail to appreciate it at all and not be able to relate it to the important present at hand for lack of proper moral/logical/etc context or experience.

genetics has a part in it, but it's also the environment someone grows up in that finally molds the person into what they become as adults.

No. There is such a broad range of mixes possible in the ratio of drive/determination : intelligence in genetics. Some people are motivated and intelligent, some people are motivated but not very, some are not motivated but intelligent, etc etc etc. It's just a fact that some people may possibly be born with a higher or lower chance of succeeding.

I'd say no, but I'd also guess that very few people actually hit any sort of potential limitation where they cannot get further simply because their genetics won't allow it.
