Stephen A ripped him pretty good, and is right. It's perfectly fine to protest. It's hypocritical to protest trying to "change" things, then not actually doing anything as simple as voting for the change.

Not that I think Hillary would be better to blacks, based on her history and the history of the Democrats who have been in office. The point is he didn't take a few minutes to vote.

To be fair though, in his original statement he condemned both Trump and Hillary. Media seems to have lost that fact, focusing just on the alleged "racial injustice" of minorities.

Not that his vote in CA would have mattered, but I agree. My vote in MD didn't really matter, but I still voted.

Stephen A Smith is the biggest douchebag in sports media. Your post would have been better if you left him out of it.

I disagree though. If he didn't believe either of them were going to make any of the changes he's protesting, then throwing a vote out to either of them wouldn't help his cause.

Kaepernick's quote's make sense (he talked about both being terrible choices) until you realize that there's more to vote for than president, or even third party. Just shameful since espn had been trying to set him up as a role model.

Even if you don't vote for presidents, you can still vote for propositions and measures that would end up affecting you personally. What a colossal douche bag, that Kaepernick is.

I recall him saying that he was going to be more "proactive" in this movement rather than simply silently protest during a few minutes at games where he's paid a colossal amount of money to perform as one of the worst examples of his profession.

Well, going out to vote--especially locally--is the most proactive action that our republic allows. It doesn't get more active than that. What if he had likewise spent time encouraging others to do so?

You think a selfish childish punk would think that far? Neither him nor his sympathizers have any clues.

So the guy didn't vote in the election. Does that change anyone's opinion?

Just because he's a douchebag doesn't mean he's always wrong. Kaepernick deserved it

Not standing for the anthem is not even a little bit of an issue in my book. That someone even bothered to notice is a waste of that person's time and energy. Not voting is a douchebag move but I guess it just means that my vote counted that little bit more.

And maybe not voting is the most appropriate response when presented with two equally objectionable choices.

Let's get out and vote
Let's make our voices heard
We've been given the right to choose between a douche and a turd
It's democracy in action
Put your freedom to the test
A big fat turd or a stupid douche
Which do you like best?

The real tragedy in this election is that either candidate won. In a perfect world it would be 42 votes for Trump, 42 votes for Clinton and 150 million write-in votes for "are you fucking kidding me? NONE OF THE ABOVE"

He's is most of the time, I agree. Personally I think Skip Bayless is. There are more votes than just for president though, not voting for anything after protesting for a change is silly. Talking about shit doesn't do anything, voting at least puts actions behind words. Even if you personally don't change anything, you're showing you tried. And shows people protesting like he is, that he did try.
