Sorry for beating the dead horse, but perhaps my mentioning of Kaepernick may be Islamic did detract from the original intention of the thread. You're mistaken with the intention of my post, it's not to question whether or not he is within his right to do so, but his sincerity. Watch the videos I linked, they make sense.

I stopped reading after this in the first article you linked " It’s with systemic racism that persists, 50-plus years after the civil rights movement. And it’s with people so fearful of what will follow that they refuse to consider someone else’s truth." Because, that's just pure bullshit.

Well, except, there's little risk to Kaepernick now, he's going to be cut, and he's already rich. He said it himself, that "other might want to do what he did, but can't afford it" - paraphrasing, of course.

I prefer the anthem to Islam. Screw Islam and the screwballs who believe that nonsense. Information from thousands of years ago on how to mistreat your fellow human beings does not belong in modern society.

Every country in the world has some despicable people in it that do despicable things. There are also great people here and abroad that do great things that help people all over the world. If you want to focus on only the despicable acts, that's your prerogative. Just don't lose sight of the good guys fighting the good fight that go unnoticed sometimes.

When I look at the flag, or hear the national anthem, I think about the good guys fighting the good fight day and night, so we can enjoy living in a prosperous, civilized, modern nation. I think of the many acts of bravery, kindness, generosity that some Americans have shown the world. I think about modern medicine, and how it has eradicated diseases. Modern science and how it has given us a better understanding of the nature of the universe. I think about modern technology that gives us access to information from a smartphone in our pockets the likes of which even sci-fi authors didn't imagine decades ago. I think about modern psychology and how we continue to try to understand ourselves, our own minds, the most complex of all things we have ever observed in the entire universe so far. A daunting task, I know. But we take it on as best we can. We try to stay positive, because it's more enjoyable than the alternative.
