Do you think pedophilia is always wrong?

Say a person is attracted to kids, but he doesn't know why, and he doesn't act on his impulses... would you consider him a pervert? The reason I ask is because I wonder how one becomes a pedophile. Is it just the way a person is, like homosexuals for example?

Above 13 (below that you are just kind of sick) it is society that deems you a pedophile but not really nature. To answer your question yes in todays society I would think you were a pervert. However given the actions of 13 year olds today my mind is slowly changing but not really since the mind/ emotion doesn't mature as fast.

Conjecture on my part -

Pedophilia is a disease or a mental disorder.

Homosexuality is not with no bond between the two.

Consentual sex between adults is fine. There is a serious mental breakdown going on when an adult is trying to solicit sexual services from a child. And I'm not talking about a 20 year old going after a 16 or 17 year old. We're talking full grown adults going after children that are unable to comprehend what exactly is going on.

As far as not acting on it, is it illegal, no. Is it unhealthy, yes.

The problem is that pedophilia tends to lead to behavior that harms children in some way. Even something as simple as child porn (simple in the grand scale of what a pedophile COULD be doing).

I wouldn't say that pedophilia is inherently wrong, but what an individual chooses to do with that could definitely be.

I can't believe I'm defending pedophilia, but I kinda feel for somebody who was abused & now has abuser urges. That does not, however, give one free license to abuse. Empathy, perhaps pity, for the causes but we cannot condone the actions.

I agree that you can't compare pedophilia to homosexuality. But given that it's rare for a teenager to be a virgin on his/her eighteenth birthday, I'm thinking the legal age will go down to 16 or something.

There's some real numbers for you. Granted there is a four year range of surveyed ages, but I would still hardly call it "rare" for an 18 year old to be a virgin.

I don't know if it was ever appealed or not, but a man was arrested a few years back for something similar to what I wrote above. He wrote in a journal about very explicit things he would like to do to some young boys that he was close to. The journal was discovered and the neighbors wanted him put away.

I'm trying to find links for it to get the specific details on the case and the outcome what all went down.

Well, one thing that bugs me is no one seems to consider how kids dress today. I was watching that Dateline thing the other night, and it struck me that no one mentioned how girls dress these days. Everywhere you go nowadays, you see young girls, say 14-17 wearing ultra tight tops, pants that barely cover their a$$, and even have the tatoos at the base of their back. I often wonder if the apparent increase in pedophilia lately has something to do with that.

I am not excusing pedophilia in any way...just something I've often wondered.
