WoW is here to stay for another decade or so.

I started WoW at 2006 til december 2009 before the LK raid was opened. I just realized it will be just the same cycle of monotony of getting purples, raids, and eventually it'll be useless in the long run.

Happy since then

But I enjoyed the experience, especially late vanilla and BC especially (tankadin breaking barriers). Love the arena scheme, but it gets frustrating later on (2200+ disc priest alt, and retnub main)

Blizzard is making money hand-over-fist from WoW and, honestly, they're not investing much of it back in to improving the game in either content, infrastructure or customer service.

Honestly one raid instance per year, laggy gameplay, 7+ days for a resolution to an in-game ticket.

Blizzard would rather build Orc statues in their parking lot.

I'd be interested to know just how many subscritions are required to "break even" with development costs (at the current underwhelming rate), bandwidth and server maintenance. I bet it's nowhere near 11 million.

WoW will live until it's more profitable to move the development team to another project, and it won't die until enough of the players who stick around with no new content quit to make hosting it unprofitable.
One raid instance per year?

Eventually it will decline, just like everything ... it's just a matter of when.

Hopefully cataclysm IS the last expansion, and they start to work on something innovative ... crossing my fingers for some new IP at Blizzcon 2011.

they confirmed at blizzcon that there will be an expansion after cata

You'd be right if those three things were true but they aren't so your wrong.
3.0-November 13, 2008
3.1-April 14,2009
3.2-August 4,2009
3.3-December 8,2009
This is leaving out all the small raids in between.

Laggy Gameplay? I don't know. By a new computer or get a better isp.

My last ticket was answered in 3 hours.

I could see in 5 or 10 years phones and tablets could play WoW without too much difficulty and it'll continue life on those platforms.

you must really be out of touch or not follow hardware and technology (probably spend to much time on wow.) Tablets and phones could play wow today.

Wow players are like people who do drugs, they think everyone else does it too. I played wow the first year it was out, got bored of the monotony

While I appreciate the dickheaded remark, the fact is people aren't playing WoW on their tablets or phones today, are they? No, they aren't. My statement was not entirely based on hardware technologies.

GTFO.

If they ever made wow PvP centric it would explode in population and continue on for a long time.

The only way for that to continue is to start from scratch and make it pvp centric, a true horde vs alliance game.

They should of did that from start make it a pvp game. I would of been playing from day one, instead of the free month i did a year ago before i got bored to death.

For as popular it is for the pve crowd, its laughed at by the pvp crowd for being so assbackwards with pvp.

guild wars is pvp centric and it doesn't have half of the players wow does, and it's free. even wow players (for the most part) will admit gw is vastly better in the pvp arena.

You must be really out of touch or not follow the software patches on wow Even a top of line i7 system with 5870 or similar video cards plummet to below-30 fps in Dalaran or busy raids. Now, if you set all the settings to the bare minimum and resolution to 800X600 and don't run any add-ons and never do anything with more than 2-3 other players on the screen, you might be able to get playable FPS on tablet hardware. But I think that after all those sacrifices nobody would actually enjoy playing the game, thus it remains on PC only.

Guild wars is fully instanced, or at least it was last time I played it. As a PvPer, I enjoy world PvP, ganks, protecting from ganks, controling valuable farming areas, stealing world bosses, etc. While WoW's PvP is far from perfect, at least it does allow for most of those interactions, something an instanced game such as guildwars is completely incapable of doing.

There is more to PvP than 5vs5 arena. A lot more.

Dal yes, raids NO

when i was still raiding an I7 920 @ 4GHz with a GTX 285 kept frame rates above 60 most times over 100, the only fight in ICC that killed it was death bringer because it was outside. Hell i could fraps at 60 FPS Full screen + sound with no noticeable lag/ FPS drops

same CPU with a 6870 right now sits at about 45 in dal when there are a few hundred people there

this is at 1920x1200 ultra settings, at a lower resolution you can maintain 100+ in dal

Laggy Gameplay? I don't know. By a new computer or get a better isp.

My last ticket was answered in 3 hours.

Bolded the release of Icecrown citadel which is exactly 364 days prior to the planned release of Cataclysm. Ruby Sanctum is a half-assed attempt at a raid, 20 minutes of poorly-voiced purple dragon does not keep a raiding guild entertained for a week.

My computer plays WoW fine, and my ISP is great. But, put two systems playing WoW side-by-side and observe the ridiculous difference in the position of the players. Blizzard did a great job of making the game feel smooth as silk, but if you objectively observe the difference it's the same as any other MMORPG.

My last three tickets have required over a week to resolve.

This past week my guild master was locked out of our ICC raid in spite of zoning in with the rest of us on Tuesday as usual, Blizzard did not respond or fix the issue before the lockout expired.

WoW is leagues ahead of other MMORPGs in the genre, no doubt there, but Blizzard is laughing their way to the bank while giving back nothing to the players.

Right, because Blizzard obviously made a mistake that has crippled the potential player base of WoW by making it a soft fuzzy land for carebares.
If only they had made it more hardcore they would have gotten some real subscription numbers instead of the small playerbase it currently has!

Oh, wait. WoW has so many players that Blizzard can barely keep them all logged in during peak. In fact I would say that at it's peak WoW had saturated the entire MMO market.

I understand the want for hardcore PVP. I know that a lot of people say that want it.
But sorry to say, but the vast majority of players out there want their PVP in bite sized packets that does not get in their way of dancing on the mailbox, and when it does they bitch until Devs change it.

Sad part is people are still struggling to down LK and the rest havent even gotten close to downing RS.

It won't go away. Even Blizzard may release another MMORPG without killing WoW.
