I didn't care what Prince thought when he was halfway relevant. I certainly don't care now.

I agree. They should set a deadline where all additions to the internet will cease. Whatever is out there at that time can stay. Nothing new can added.

And at that point, archive it, and inscribe the archive into some media that'll be stable for thousands of years. I'm thinking maybe diamond DVDs.
A modern day Library of Alexandria.

Then resume operations as normal.

Because your company is getting broke and cant afford the power and net bill.

Internet is not going ANYWHERE.

And Prince is a moron...even if the net is a "fad" then why not at least put your music online now and get what $ you can from it...idiot...people can get all for free anyways on this fad...

most of you guys won't be able to afford the power bill in the near future. That plus internet tax will cause a change. It won't go away but it will change.

We are currently in what I all the black and white era of the internet. It is going to look much different in 20 years. I really think we are going to move to thin clients and have more items that can be labeled "interent applciances". The Kindle is an example of what i see down the road. It is abook reader and in some cities, you can subscribe to the local newspaper through it. It kinda reminds me of The Jetsons.

Anyways, I think we will be kissing PCs good by to a large extent in the home environment as cheaper alternatives appear. Of course, I fear that subscription based models will take over.

I pray to god that texting just disappears off the planet. It's worse than TV.

Anyways, we are in the black and white era. We sill one day be like color TV and eventually evolve into some high def version. Don't forget, the internet is simply a new method of communcation (like the telephone) and a new way to distribute media. Your local paper is now available online as are your favorite movies (Netflix) and music (iTunes store).

People forget that more subscription baseddevices means that more of your income is being spent. At some point, you do have to pay the water, electric and other bills. Mortgage. It's not like we can have 10 Kindle and cell phone devices in the future that cost $50 a month. It's just not possible.

I see a change in the business model on the horizon. greatly more expensive electricity (your obama says so) and internet tax will induce change and put an end the superfluous use of power and infrastructure.

All the internet is is a means of communication. There have been plenty of means of communication that have become less popular.

I'm sure the internet (as we know it today) will fade away, but only when it is replaced by something much better. It is always evolving anyway, so the internet of today is really nothing like the internet of 10 years ago.

Michael Jackson molested little boys.

Prince is ignorant of information technology and its role in our culture.

Prince > Michael Jackson.

No he didn't. Michael Jackson was proven in the court of law that he did not. Do you know how many people everyday try to get money out of superstars? Didn't think so. Favorite people are easy to get money out of that why people try to sue them for everything. Even if it is untrue. There would be evidence. Like don't think one of his helpers in his house would of noticed ? Not sure if he had a body guard but most famous people do.

The internet won't just dissappear, but may slide to the background as something newer and better comes along. Just like the progression of other things

newspaper -> radio -> tv -> internet -> ???

I've been online since 1996 so that's one long-lasting fad. Also the Internet today is nothing like how it was 10 or even 5 years ago. It's constantly changing. Newsgroups and FTP servers may be dead, but other things take over. "Social networking" has replaced IRC, legal streaming music is replacing mp3 downloads. In the early 00's, no one knew what a "blog" was, now everyone has one. The Internet is a much more generalized concept than radio or TV.

OJ Simpson was acquitted of two counts of murder. Do you believe that OJ was innocent?
