Do you think what the skateboarder did to the McLaren is justified?

That's always a question I have whenever videos like this come out. What were they filming when they caught the event? Maybe I'm old enough to not understand it, and young people who have always lived in a world with phone cameras are in the habit of filming random stuff all the time... so they're just bound to catch something interesting eventually.

from youtube...

I was catching a video of the sunset ..."

pretty clear why he was filming that direction, and why the cam is pointed largely at the sky between the buildings instead of on the car

busy downtown area with lots of people on the street. It was not a slow sign. Pedestrians have an expectation to get to cross safely at that one spot, and the asshat in the car not only blew past the sign, he had a shitty attitude about the whole thing when he was totally in the wrong. If he had been contrite in the least about it, nothing would have happened. I've fucked up and know when I do, I sure don't cop an attitude about it.

Not enough evidence in the video to conclude either way, save for the McLaren crept up on the stop sign. A lot of times, people stop at the intersection, not the white line and the driver was slowing down enough.

From what i can see, he slowed, then honk, then immediately a smashing sound can be heard followed by a collective "OOOOOOOOhhhh" and then the skateboarder ran.

That sequence is too fast for me to think the skateboarder actually fell, got up, smash the windshield and took off running as fast as he did.

There's surely more to the story. And judging from pretty much ALL the skateboarders I came across, I'm sure he's a perfect little angel who's just minding his business...

There's a skate shop a door down from that intersection. Showing off just what a skater badass he is for all his buddies.

He was neither creeping up to the intersection or slowing down. Looks to me he maintained his pace the whole time until the skater jumped out at him.

What the fuck video were you watching? While there wasn't enough evidence to determine everything that happened the one thing that was clear and indisputable is that the McLaren most definitely did not creep up on the stop sigh. The McLaren paid no attention to the stop sign, went right through it and only stopped because the kid was in the road.

He is a thug and deserves to have is ass whipped for his behavior hence why I suggested that he travel to Russia to skateboard. They'd run him over then beat his ass for it.

The skater has a strong understanding of life and is changing the world one smashed windshield at a time.

Poetry.

We all live amid surfaces, and the true art is to skate well on them. He could have scored more style points if it had been a kick flip into the windshield.

Still a solid 9 on the judges scorecard.

lulz would have been epic if he rail grinded the car with the skateboard.

Some of you need to learn how to use the damn internet. There's another video that shows the car DID hit the kid. I think he should have smashed the windshield even if the car didn't hit him. The driver shouldn't have honked like a fucking douche and the passenger shouldn't have antagonized him. Yeah yeah, it's not right for the kid to have hit the windshield, but sometimes people need to suffer consequences immediately. I'll bet the driver is slightly less of a douche now.

Can you link the other video? I suck at this internet thing.

You have better web peripheral vision than me, because through the vertical-ness of the video, what you described wasn't in the video I watched. And yes, the McLaren was stopping because you can see the brake lights lit up when the front of the car reached the stop sign.

Brake light lit up.
Horn honk.
Smash.
Punk ran.

stopping because skateboarder was in the crosswalk. Some reports say he hit the kid; others, that he just made him fall down. Then they honk and you can hear in the video someone in the car saying "Move bitch". That's when the kid hit the car.

Then that kid is spiderman personified, because all that happened within a second or two...

Looks like an awkward intersection for a driver. The crosswalk is 10-15 feet back from road because of the bend at the intersection. Plus the road down which the driver came is perfectly straight, then turns almost 45 degrees right at crosswalk.
I don't see why that is an awkward intersection for a driver. The driver is always required to first stop at the stop sign, not on the other side of the crosswalk.

As for the crosswalk, being recessed from the intersection could actually make it safer and easier for turning cars to not plow into people crossing.

Nice. Very well done. I'll bet that kid still has all his teeth (which is actually kind of a shame). Was the driver the owner of the company that rents the cars? No wonder he was so chill.

It's so awesome that people continue to find unique and creative ways to use the internet, social media, and Google to make serious coin. God love 'em.
