Who here trusts the news networks to give them the big picture? You have probably seen the news in the last few days about the Feds investigating the owner of that plane that crashed and killed Aaliyah and everyone else on board. From watching the report, it sounds like they are targeting him as having a integral part of the crash, saying that he is withholding maintanence logs etc. I got this off of a aviation newgroup i visit (and this poster is not a troll either)

<<
Okay, now you got me started. A long time friend of mine was reported about
on CNN today. His house was searched for a certain airplane's records. Guess
what CNN edited out? The stink of it is that the FAA has copies of the
records. The FAA had the records 2 weeks prior to the crash. One engine is
factory new and the other is a factory reman. The props are new. The
manufacturers have all pertinent documentation. The airframe was inspected
during a routine base inspection and again during the pilot's checkride. The
FAA issued the 135 checkride to the pilot involved. The inspector that
issued the ride also issued certificates to certain Arab hijackers. That
inspector blew his brains out on his front lawn. Did CNN mention any of
this, ever? Hell no!

No, thats why I read a few totaly different sites each day in hope of getting the big picture. Getting information from just one source is like.. brainwashing or something, that gives that source to much power of your life.

lol... You said trust and CNN in the same sentence. ROFL!!!

<<I do ALOT of reading at different news sites, and blend everything together>>

Oh my God! CNN is the most unreliable network and one I would never trust what I hear from it--unless it is independently verified by a reliable source.

I blend news from different sources I find to be fairly reliable. The BBC, for instance, I know isn't 100% reliable, but I know there's a lot of truth I can obtain from it and add it up with other sources. There isn't an absolute truth source, but there are reasonable and credible news sources.

I don't include any of the U.S. regular TV networks, though. For, I don't trust ABC, NBC, and CBS either.

Edited for typo.

Im glad there are some more intelligent people out there! too many people I know take the media's information as the entire truth.

It also puzzles me why they have to make a big deal about an accident that has happened many times before, just not to famous people.

Funny thing is, just yesterday my sis was watching something on VH1, and during that period, they made mention of Aaliyah. It made me reflect on her death. I thought of how her story didn't last for too long, but I never thought of it as some conspiracy. I think it was a case of negligence and the parties involved should be held accountable for it.

I thought it as a senseless death, but so are many deaths in human history.

I trust CNN more then any other news station (FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS, ect) but I mostly trust Reuters, UPI, AFP and AP the most since they are the 'back bone' of these news networks.

Of course those that do not trust news sources such as CNN will swear as gospel all that is in Red Onion,Drudge report, Fox, Globe or Rush Limbaugh.

The watchword is trust but verify. Check sources that any news organization uses, and cull your own belief. Using sources outside U.S. mainstream is one way to ellicite dialog that may shed more light on a subject.

You have to trust someone, no matter who you are. If you don't, you need to live in a cave and nevr interact with the outside world (like the Taliban).

I try to watch/read several major news sources, as the only thing I really trust is their desire to undercut each other, make each other look bad, and get exclusives. Therefore if a certain key fact was left out, usually another network would jump all over it as an "Exclusive! See what CNN missed!"...

Since i would have to waste my time reading the CNN stories, i'll pass on your challenge.

However, check this out, anyone who can read will see the bias...
Use this---> Linky

Now look at ALL the headlines reporting on the elections we just had...

Notice a pattern? It's VERY clear.

EVERYTIME a democrat won they reported:
-Democrats take
-Democrats win
-Early returns: Democrats win

So what does it say when a repulican won?
-Mayor races up for grabs
-Bloomberg wins
-Several large cities getting new mayors

Strange how NOT once do they mention in a headline that ANY Republican won anything... When a Democrat wins they SAY democrats win, when a republican wins they say the guys name... or don't mention it at all... athetic:

How about another example...same page:
-Democrat pushes party's economic
-Senate Democrats unveil econimic
-Dem say Bush

Again, strange this unbiased trust-worthy network doesn't mention the Republicans in ANY headline...

Well.... i can't make the problem any clearer, you either see it or you don't.

<< . I think it was a case of negligence and the parties involved should be held accountable for it. >>

The only negligent action was that of the pilot, in taking off with a severely overloaded plane. I wonder if we will ever find out if the passengers insisted on overloading the plane, or if the pilot ignored the situation. If the pilot objected but complied because of the passgeners's status,it would be very hard to put the blame on him solely.

<< Her plane was overloaded right? >>

yes by a large amount, and the center of gravity was probably well out of range also.

Psy Ops from Fort Bragg were at CNN during yje Fulf War SLAUGHTER
and the present incursion that was planned in July by Bush & Co.
For what other reason than to "FILTER" the news.

Hundreds of eyewitnesses were ignored in the Flight 800 cover up.
Flight 800 COVERUP

nOTICE fficial cause - Fuel tank eruption.

Recent study less than one chance in 20 yrs. of ALL US FLIGHTS for fuel tank eruption. Cost of fuel tank eruption safety. $12 Bil. over 15 years.

Summation the cover up is too costly for fuel tank safety.

Knowlege is Oiwer!!!!!!! Arm Yourselves!!!

I trust CNN about as much as I trust our government.

Don't ever think that you're getting the whole truth. That would be very naive. But then again, many Americans are very naive. Many believe that the recent plane crash was an accident. How amusing.

There are cover ups at all levels of Government. Even FEMA. Specifically the Earthquake of 1994 in Northridge, CA. There was an insane cover up in California that year. Here are the stats.

TIME: January 17, 1994

4:30:55 am PST
LOCATION: 34° 12.80' N, 118° 32.22'W;

20 miles west-northwest of Los Angeles
1 mile south-southwest of Northridge
MAGNITUDE: MW 6.7

6.7 my ass. My friend who is an amateur seismologist recorded it as an 8.0. I saw pictures that would amaze you. He called some local government officials and some men stopped by his house. They flashed some badges and took is seismograph. He has not seen it to this day and no government agency admits to being at his house.

All this for what? FEMA pays out less if it's a smaller earthquake!

CNN is my last source I use. They are too biased. However, I feel it is important to gather information from as many sources as possible, so I do peek in on them. So to answer your Q more directly. No.

I tend to watch MSNBC only because I think Brian Williams should be next in line after Tom Brokaw leaves and Ashley Banfield is the hottest TV reporter (thankfully she's changed her hair color since that pict).
