I noticed that it always distracts me of the game, so i always turn the music off to get more into the game. I also have more of the game vibe.

Nope, the constant sweeping of music becomes annoying every time i go around a corner.
I do it with all first person shooter games. I can then hear the environment better.

I think there are multiple issues. First person shooters are not exactly known for their soundtracks or, their implementation. There's also the group of folks enamored with quiet/silent systems. Finally, the vast majority of games are purposely written for the lowest common denominator. In general, there is room for huge improvement in games but, purposely limiting experience to increase playability is a poor tradeoff.

Always in multiplayer games.

Never in single player games, although in some games it is so loud I turn it down considerably.

Depends on the game. While in Elite for example, I turn off their music and turn on my own. Exploring a 400 billion star galaxy to Lindsey Stirling is sublime.

Depends on the game. Stealthy FPS or just FPS games that can be played as stealth games I usually turn off the music. Games with good atmospheric sounds I generally lower the music volume pretty low and in almost all RTS games I'll turn the music almost off since I need to hear notifications.

For the most-part though, some games have outstanding music and I generally try to keep the music on until I find out if I enjoy it or not. Games like Witcher 3, Binding of Isaac, Bastion, Medieval 2 Total War, S.T.A.L.K.E.R games, etc. all have amazing music and should never be turned off or lowered.

The fun thing is that with third person games, i like the music because it adds to the ambience of the game. It is just that with first person shooter games, i focus a lot on what i hear in the background. I am more immersed in the game when i turn the music off. Of course, i put the sound loud on my headphones.
So it is not the first time i jump up in my seat when some monster jumps at me out of nowhere.
I start shooting and melee like a crazy man.

Depends on the game but yeah. It's unfortunate for some games because the music can add to the game at certain points but a lot of the times I don't want to hear the same music during every battle or hear the music drone on and on and on when I'm just in a long battle. (Or it playing intense music when there's just one guy around that I'm looking for to clear the room/level/whatever)

rarely.

Rift music gets tiresome, mostly because I've spent a couple hundred hours in it.
Easy Solution: Go to youtube, search for "Fantasy" and pick anything with a duration over 40 minutes.

Fallout also requires many hours in game, but that has a solution too. Just download one of the numerous music mods and enjoy yourself.

Depends on the type of game and stuff like multiplayer fps games the game makes a mistake if the have any to begin with.

However in normal games or single player games usually keep it but some do need to have it turned down at times however some games like Rebal Galaxy 90% of the game is the music.

GTA is my favorite series, so of course I won't turn the music down. In fact, I fell in love with GTA2 because of the radio stations.

Depends on the game. The music in the first StarCraft was pretty repetitive. I haven't gotten sick of the music from Rome 2: TW yet, but after 200 hours, I'm close.

Yeah, I usually turn it off or down quite a bit. I always hit the "Settings" when I first play a game and that's one of the things I do.

Always turn it off.

Except driving games. Getting jiggy with a little Hot Action Cop is better than the game.

EDIT: Holy crap, just Googled them and found out they're a bunch of Kentucky crackers. Thanks for ruining yet another thing for me, Google!

Hahaha! I was going to say I always immediately turn it 95% down or off, but GTA is definitely one series where I leave it on. I always immediately turn to the talk stations.

But in any 1st or 3rd person game, I'd kill the music. It kills the immersion for me. If I'm playing something like an RTS, I'll keep the music on, if it's good.

Can't think of a game whose music was so bad I turn it off. Enough of it is well done and adds to the game.
