I use this $39 Oral-B electric toothbrush:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UKM9CO/
  • Night & day difference over a manual toothbrush
  • My dentist said I needed to go electric for my gums
  • It's like going to the dentist for a cleaning...every day (my teeth are so smooth!)
  • My dentist said that the super expensive ones were pretty much the same as the decent budget ones (~$40 Oral-B), so that's what I got
  • Refill heads (even knockoffs) are still stupid expensive (but they do last awhile)

Just set a slickdeal notification, just in case.

"Says British Dental Association"

I'll keep flossing.
Except it references America, and that America no longer recommends flossing. I grabbed the quick article, but the actual research papers should be easy to track down. Belief without proof is religion, and religion is bullshit.

I’m surprised electric is beating manual. I thought it would lean manual by at least 5 to 1.

I use an electric, recommended by my hygienist because of over brushing. It took some getting used to, but I like it.

I use electric, floss aftwr every meal, use water pick every other day and mouthqash. Still have gum problems. At this point I think I'll get a industrial ultrasound cleaning basin and dunk my head in.

Got an electric one like 4 years ago and never looked back. It is a Philips Sonicare. It just cleans much better and also, the fact that it stays on for 2 minutes then cuts off, means I always brush my teeth for 2 minutes since I always go until it stops. Prior to that when I was doing manual, I wasn't brushing for close to 2 minutes.

My dentist could tell the difference the next time I went in for my 6 month cleaning and asked me if I switched to an electric. So she could tell from the condition of my teeth. She could also tell I brush with my right hand because one side was a bit cleaner than the other.

I also like how it briefly pauses every 30 seconds so you can get an even brush throughout your whole mouth.

Got an electric as a present. Won't go back to normal brushes any more. Teeth feel so much cleaner and I can get back into the way back corners of my molars a lot better with them.

Manual brushing makes you a bit more active in the morning if you don't have time for exercise in your busy mornings.

Men aren’t supposed to have vibrators?

No problem with that, as long as they aren't "disposable" vibrators to be tossed out simply because a shitty battery has died.

None of this is actually disposable. Generating more waste--and far, far, far worse types of waste--than previous generations is going in the absolute opposite direction of where we are required to be going as a species that is interested in its own survival.

We another name for "disposable". Maybe high waste or limited use. Perhaps another thread.

Do I feel bad about tossing them out? I once did. We found out from the city that the market for all recycled products has tanked. Other than toxic chemicals like paint, etc., which go to a different collection station, and even though we have to separate our "recyclables" from garbage, all recycling and garbage is being directed by the city to the local landfills, and the city's recycling centers have pretty much been shut down. The city is hopeful that by the Fall, the recycling centers will be at 50% capacity again.

Same!
