I’m watching wheel of fortune and a commercial came on that claims electric toothbrushes are superior to manual ones. Which do you use?

I have some kind of organic, free range, woman owned company brush. I'm pretty happy with it. I want to get the medium strength refill if I order though. I bought it with soft, but it feels unsubstantial.

Got a Sonicare a few months back. Used a manual the year previous, had a Oral B before that.

Switched to sonicare almost a year ago. It definitely makes my teeth feel cleaner. It always feels like I just got my teeth cleaned at the dentist.

Electric. My teeth feel way cleaner than when I use a manual brush. Plus I end up with sensitive gums less often. Probably getting crap that's caught between my gums and teeth better.

Electric. Much better for your gums while still getting all the food that tends to accumulate near them. Makes dentist visits way quicker due to less time spent with that terrible metal scraper.

Normally I use electric but on the weekends sometimes I'll use manual, because of reasons. I actually feel like I have better control, or can get into more nooks/crannies, with the manual. But I've had one or two dentists, including my current, say that electric is better.

But I think more important than if you use manual or electric is if you floss. A toothbrush alone just ain't gonna do the job that flossing does.

I use this $39 Oral-B electric toothbrush:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UKM9CO/
  • Night & day difference over a manual toothbrush
  • My dentist said I needed to go electric for my gums
  • It's like going to the dentist for a cleaning...every day (my teeth are so smooth!)
  • My dentist said that the super expensive ones were pretty much the same as the decent budget ones (~$40 Oral-B), so that's what I got
  • Refill heads (even knockoffs) are still stupid expensive (but they do last awhile)

Just to add here,if you are thinking on splurging on an oral b make sure it has the BETTER Lithium-ion batteries.I think the cheapest model that has this is the one that i purchased Oral-B Pro 2 2500N CrossAction Electric Toothbrush.Far more brushes per charge than my previous overpriced oral b shite.
