That's why Chrome sucks; No reconfigurability. It's the Apple approach to computing. Do it our way, or fuck off.

Firefox has it's own fair share of problems as well. It's taken them something like 4 years to finally have proper image scaling.

Obviously, no browser does everything he wants and Chrome comes closest. It might shock you to know that not everyone is nearly as passive and accepting of glaring faults than you are.

Well as its not a "glaring fault" to me its not me thats being passive and accepting by using software that doesnt suit their needs is it?

Holy jesus. Nice 40pt fonts.

It's 200% zoom. Avoids problems with the other scaling levels in between.

Well as its not a "glaring fault" to me its not me thats being passive and accepting by using software that doesnt suit their needs is it?

If I was just being "passive" and letting things go, I wouldn't have bothered to participate in the bug discussion or create this thread and solicit help to get it fixed.

Maybe you don't realize it, but you didn't originally criticize me for being "passive." You criticized me for actively seeking to get it fixed.

Going in circles...

Its not a bug and (in googles) opinion doesn't need fixing, its working as its meant to.

The fact that its not working as you want it to but you continue to use it when there are other programs that do do what you want is what is slightly odd.

There is stuff which works better in Firefox than in Chrome though
I personally use Chrome because of the bookmark folders (way too easy)
and website development

OK guys, I'm perplexed. I'm using Windows 7, and my Chrome doesn't look like Ichinisan's picture, with the lack of space above the tabs (and what's that big inverted tab, and the smiley face on the left side?) Instead, mine looks like Jodell88's, except with Windows gadgets instead of whatever OS he's using. So what the hell? (My version is "24.0.1312.52 m"; I see that it wants to do an update, but it's ALWAYS looked like this, as far as I can remember!)

OK, one small correction, it's not EXACTLY like Jodell88's, in that it doesn't have a TITLE in the title bar, but it DOES have a bar, holding the Windows gadgets well ABOVE the tabs.

Talking in circles...

Its not a bug
I referenced the discussion on CRBUG. Usability issues and requests are filed as bug discussions. Why are you coming up with BS like this? You seriously think I don't know what a bug is?

(in googles) opinion doesn't need fixing, its working as its meant to.
Regardless of what you may think, Google developers thought this option was worthwhile and it does exist...in the Linux version.

The fact that its not working as you want it to but you continue to use it when there are other programs that do do what you want is what is slightly odd.
You act like I haven't been through similar trials with Firefox. I have. I used Firefox exclusively for many years. I determined that Chrome works best for me (see my comments above about preserving and restoring the state of my tabs and sessions). I also find that the user profiles feature is elegant and works exactly the way I want. Of course Chrome has its own quirks (EVERY browser does). Many Chrome quirks have been fixed over the years and I'm hoping this will be one of them.

You're actually suggesting that I should use a browser that does not work as well for me. Every few months, I give Firefox and Opera a whirl to see if they're working the way I want. I don't need you to tell me how to pick a browser.

Maximize the window.

(and what's that big inverted tab,
Remote Desktop UI covering my tabs!

and the smiley face on the left side?)
Profiles. You can create additional user profiles in Chrome, each profile has an image in the corner. Click it to drop-down a list of other user profiles. Click the other profile to open it in a new window.

Profiles have separate cookies, stored passwords, sync accounts, preferences, and sessions. With profiles, you can be simultaneously logged-in to multiple accounts on the same web site.

Even though my mother is never at my apartment, I have a profile for her so I can access her accounts and help her remotely without logging-out of my own accounts.

Instead, mine looks like Jodell88's, except with Windows gadgets instead of whatever OS he's using.
He has the Linux version and has enabled the system title bars option that is missing in the Windows version.

Try maximizing it. Your narrow title bar disappears completely.

I primarily use FF for all general use web surfing stuff.
Chrome mostly for YT, more than anything. FF Adblock + noscript seems to mess with YT upload functionality with weird results.

Yep. I guess I just haven't had the urge to have the browser taking up my whole monitor since getting a widescreen monitor. Of course, I don't have as many tabs as you do, so even maximized I still have enough titlebar to grab to manipulate the window.

As a workaround you could run it slightly smaller than maximized. That would give you the extra space over the tabs, and full screen for all intents and purposes.

That would not allow AeroSnap automatic sizing between displays.

I thought this was just me.

For some reason, I can't stand to maximize browser windows on my monitor. 23" 1080p. Not even sure if I did it on my previous 21" 1680 monitor.

edit: Also, I don't complain about Chrome in general because I have no problems with it. ...
"No problems?!" I can only assume that it reflects your poor sophistication as a computer and forum user. You use proper punctuation and capitalization and yet you aren't even inclined use CTRL+B or CTRL+I or CTRL+U shortcuts to format your text once and a while?!

Doesn't work on Chrome in any forum with BB Code, including this one. It works to bold, underline, or italicize things in Google Docs just like MS Office, which leads me to believe that some GDocs functionality enhancement is to blame. And, no, I didn't type any of that BB Code and I don't have the text field with toolbar buttons that take longer to use than simply typing it.

Chrome + Adblock FTW.

That said I'm surprised there are still sites I find to this day that don't quite work perfectly, particularly some banking sites that seem to always ignore cookies or something, I haven't looked into it much. I use Chrome because it's fast as a wet shit. Loads fast, new tabs open instantly, etc.

i dont think ive maxed a browser window since the 1600x1200 CRT days

doing it today at 2560x1440 is just a massive waste of space. and actually makes reading most things a PITA

I know exactly what you mean. If the monitor is 16:9, maximized windows absolutely suck. 16:10 aspect is relatively fine. Go figure.

You know, you're kind of an ass.

I'm saying that. Me, of all people. 'Poor sophistication as a computer and forum user?' That's a lame yet overly-offensive insult.

Yes, I hand type the tags. I don't use them very often, so it doesn't bother me. Also, I've been using this style of forum since uBB was first around, and had none of the fancy shit. I do use the link button on occasion, since I can highlight text, push the button, and then just paste the URL. That's...it.

and while i punctuate like nobody's fucking business, i do prefer to use no caps; i think it's a remnant of pre-voice communication pc gaming. i can strike buttons quickly, but shift always annoyed me...and it was simply common to type like this.

But I've also written plenty of more professional stuff, so it's not hard to capitalize to please the grammar nazis. ;P It's become habit now, which actually pisses me off on occasion. It's easier to write 'train of thought' ('shit your brain onto paper' style) without worrying about caps, which I now do by default. Bastards.

Chrome, as I thought I implied, is simply the all-around best...to me. Others may have other preferences; but I think it's solid fact that IE and Firefox are shit.

I love Opera, but it simply encounters problems too often. It's WAY more compatible than it used to be, but still not perfect. Only time I've had an issue with Chrome is with corporate garbage (Ford's online tech resources immediately come to mind) that is only compatible with, like, Windows XP and IE6 or some crap.

I love Chrome so much but sadly it can't handle lots of tabs on my PC. Uses tons more RAM than any other browser for me, and I'm not good at cutting down on tabs.

Yeah if you aren't careful Chrome will run rampant on your available memory. But when systems have 16+GB of memory, who really cares.
