Do you use VSR/DSR with your games when possible?

I use VSR 1440p on my 144Hz 1080p monitor with my 390's. Only downside I see is the refresh rate looks to be locked to 100Hz or 60Hz on my rig at least.

Yes, absolutely. Next monitor upgrade (still at 1080p for now) I'll go native 1440p, but for now I'm loving this new tech giving my old monitor some new life.

How does that work? Does it swap between the 2 refresh rates or can you lock it at one or the other?

I use it where I can, and since I play a lot of console ports, I can get away with it a lot.

But from 1440p there isn't much head room above with modern games. Most games already tank @4K.

Interested to see if either next gen gets us comfortably to 4K.

I use VSR on 1080p monitor in newest games as they benefit greatly from higher resolutions.

I prefer 1440p HIGH over 1080p Ultra any day

For clarification purposes....Playing Far Cry Primal it only lets me choose between 100Hz or 60Hz under the options when I bump the resolution to 1440p. Of course I chose 100Hz and v-sync off. The 16.3's gave me a very nice performance boost.

With this HD7770? Ahahaha no.

VSR is for people who bought more graphics card than they need.

Lol, after making the poll I was just like "Oh poop, I should have made it multi selection."

That way we could easily see, Yes vs No.
Nvidia vs AMD
Budget GPUs vs High end GPUs
etc.

I bet there are people who have gpus like this HD7770 (What is that? Is that a GPU for below 720p gaming? Jk jk) who obviously answered no lol.

Not gonna vote because I can't use VSR even though I want to, 1600p is not supported resolution :/

last time I used VSR was GTA 5 because I got dithering with MSAA while it stopped happening with VSR enabled

I use DSR on older games or games that aren't very demanding. I'd probably use it more, but I have a 120hz monitor, and i value high framerate over no jaggies.

I used VSR when I had my 1080p 60Hz display. It does an excellent job of limiting aliasing with no significant softness penalty, as you'd expect from super sampling.

I dont use said effects, yet I do use Resolution Scale tool in Battlefield 4, which essentially is the same. 125% Res scale for my 960 is about the same perf hit as going MSAA x2, and yet it delivers better results.

Well have you used DSR in other games for similar effects? Or do you only use resolution scale in BF4....

Because then, it's similar to what ShintaiDK said. People don't use DSR because it's another thing to set outside of game (or however you said it) and will just use ingame features instead.

When games were still dx9 but did switch to deferred shading I used custom resolutions higher than the monitor resolution and set scaling to the gpu, with a gtx 260. Dx9 games with deferred shading almost never have an antialiasing option.

I guess nvidia eventually realised they could market it as a feature with maxwell, so they made the pure software version with the optional blur filter.

Games are way too heavy now for me to consider dsr.

Sadly, this was more done for ShintaiDK's benefit than my own. I know a good amount of you use this, because I know I've specifically asked many of you about it.

All you needed was one vote, and you got that and some.

I'd use it if I was still @ 1080p. No reason not to unless you hate better IQ

I hope some users who don't use it start though. I mean seriously, if you have a midrange or higher GPU, and don't have a high resolution/high refresh rate panel, you need to use this feature.

For a person with a 1080p monitor who'm is thinking about upgrading to a 1440p it's a quick and easy way to see if your current hardware is up to the task. Better to find out before the $'s are spent than afterwards.
