Sometimes I might be a bit too forward, but I think this usually works to my advantage - it tends to break the ice.

I only grew up on the NES and SNES.
But yes, I think if I had not recieved a game system as a Christmas present, I would be a totally different person right now.

Mine were not that good. Hell even today they aren't great. However, if someone can be somewhat open with me from the start then I can be a great conversationalist. It's more about how how they respond to me in the beginning or if I find them attractive (when dealing with females). If I think a girl is amazingly attractive before I get to know her, I will become almost mute out of intimidation.

However, when I stopped playing FPS's, MMO's, etc. and just stuck to social style games ie: Rock Band I noticed my social skills improved throughout

Video games do not cause your social skills to suck. They are only an outlet for you if you already have social issues.

These days though, I don't even see how you can make the argument anymore. Most games that people get stuck on are all multi-player and very social games.

I've been introverted since before video games came into my life, but my social skills are fine. I've learned to fake it, even if I don't particularly enjoy it.
