But the problem is no one seems to repair the Rangers driving around here. 99% of the Rangers I see driving around are falling apart and rusting sh!tboxes, and the people driving them are greasy rednecks. Oh, and when I see a Ranger on the road, 100% of them time it is being driven by an asshole in a hurry to get nowhere fast, tailgating, weaving in and out of lanes, cutting people off, and generally deserving to be pulled over and shot on the side of the road.

Where have I've seen that dash before... oh yeah, it was back in high school. Come on Ford. Update it like the Mustang dash

Yeah a friend of mine has an extended cab Ranger, man that truck is small;
I sure would not want to drive it for 1,000 + mile trips.

I am spoiled,by owning Full size stuff for years,especially a Chevy Van.

Now my friends Crown Vic,is another story, Great car,Lots of room, comfy, good on gas.

Around here they do that "baja" lift (front end only) and call it the danger ranger; which by itself is a capital offense. Morons with "off road" trucks which only drive off road when they are passing everybody on the shoulder because they think refusing to merge until the last possible second is worth pissing off a dozen+ people.

Doesn't bother me that they don't update the Ranger too much. Truck buyers are notoriously conservative (stereotypically ) and too much change would likely alienate them. Plus, the Ranger looks great; I shudder to think what some megalomaniac Japanese designer would do to it if given the chance

I owned a 1999 Ranger XLT Supercab until 24 November when a guy ran into it while parked and totaled it. I now have a 2002 Ford Ranger Edge Supercab (4 Door model). The Ranger is small, but it can haul a good amount of stuff, it easy to handle and comfortable. I drove my 99 Ranger on a 600 mile trip and never had a problem with comfort. It gets 20-22 MPG and is cheap to maintain. I must say that this new STX looks like shit.

The problem with all the other small truck makers is they don't make small trucks anymore. All the other small trucks are more like medium sized trucks and cost to damn much. Last time I was at a car lot and looked at Rangers you could still get a stripper model for $9,999 and if you just need a small work truck thats a pretty good deal.

Wow. The strippers I know only want a dollar now and again...

I agree with the size thing though. I had a 96 S-10 and while I loved the truck, it wasn't a compact truck. It was closer to a mid-sized car. Really bizarre. Plus, I couldn't use compact parking spaces. :|

Thiver me timbers matie!!

Come on Ford, my Sentra's I4 makes more power than that, and at .5L less displacement.

My dad's 1994 Ranger looks almost exactly like this one. Although I do have to say it's lasted surprisingly long. He has over 250K miles on it and it's still going strong. He got just about the cheapest thing they made with the pitiful 4 cyl engine. It barely makes it up small hills without losing speed but it gets him to and from work just fine. The only major repair was a transmission problem of some sort at 50K miles that cost him about $500 to repair. But he's done regular maintenance on it and nothing else has broken. My 04 Tacoma looks like a giant compared to his truck.
