A friend gave mine an ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming board so as I was changing from AMD to Intel bought a new CPU and RAM The RAM I bought was G.Skill AEGIS DDR4-3000 C16 DC (2x8GB)
If I just put one stick into the M/B I could get it to be recognised after a lot of messing about but it wouldnt fire up with two sticks in.
Because of this and the cost of the CPU and RAM I decided to stay with Intel and just buy a new M/B which is a ASUS Prime Z270-K, and I have the same problem, the RAM is very tight and although I managed to get one stick to work, adding another and the pc wont boot. Do you think it is a problem with the RAM or am I missing something.

Ram goes in slots A2 and B2, Try 1 stick at a time in each slot , it should boot. If the ram is not on the QVL that may be the reason for the issues. the boards are getting picky about the ram/.

Thanks for replying, as I said it was difficult to seat the Ram and I could only get one stick to work in either of the M/B's no matter which slots I used.

That's weird. They should fit in there no problem. Sometimes you gotta apply a little extra force depending on the board or slot them in one side first if it only has releases on one side of the DIMM slots. Make sure the mobo is giving it 1.35V not 1.2

Thanks, I will check the voltage and have another go.
