Does a good 2560x1440 27" monitor exist?

I'm currently using a Dell U2311H 23" IPS which looks and performs great for me. I've been in the market for several months for a new, larger monitor for gaming and general use. Over that period I've tried 3 different monitor models and all seem to have some annoying problem. I've tried the following:

- Dell U2713HM 27" IPS - excellent image quality but horrible overdrive ghosting made this unusable for gaming
- BenQ BL3200PT 32" VA - image quality was not as good as IPS and I had the "vertical banding" issue common to these monitors. Tried 2 of these, each with the same issue. Also, I was not a fan of the significant color shifting at angles that VA panels exhibit.
- ViewSonic VP2770 27" PLS - excellent image quality and good response time, no ghosting. However, the lower left corner has significant enough IPS glow/bleed that it's quite distracting in dark scenes, especially in dark games. I've tried 2 of these as well, each with the same issue.

I'm ready to give up on getting a new monitor. My U2311H exhibits none of these issues. Is it really this hard to get a decent monitor?

Has a 3 year panel warrenty and 1 year zero bright pixel warrenty.

Also has 4.4 stars / out of 5 on amazon review if it means anything to you.

I'm also a fan of the PB278Q, although I admit I'm not terribly picky when it comes to monitors. I've ordered several for my work and I haven't noticed any lighting or other issues with them.

I found it really hard to get a good one, but after eight returns I finally settled on an Xstar DP2710. I had the Viewsonic (2), Dell (4), and Asus (2), and they all had flaws annoying enough that I couldn't keep them.

The X-star is the first one I've had without any dead pixels. The backlight bleed is very minimal. There is IPS glow, but it's much easier to tolerate on a $300 monitor than it was on $600-$900 monitors. Of course, I got lucky with the Xstar (if you can call it luck after many months of returning other 27" monitors).

I'm not sure what it is about larger panels and defects. I too never had an issue with any of the 22-24" IPS monitors I owned before.

I also have the Asus PB278Q. I have no dead pixels and no backlight bleeding. I bought a second Asus PB278Q but it had a funny feeling button I didn't like, so I returned it. That's how OCD I am.

You sound like me when I'm shopping for a TV and spending a few grand.

Sorry that you didn't like the Dell 2713HM, my choice came after a lot of research back then.
After one year of usage, I still love it's colors & view angle, nothing to complain about.

What is the Dell 2713 HM overdrive ghosting problem? I game on mine 5 hours a day and haven't noticed it, were you trying to run it out of spec or am I just missing something?
I personally love it but would like to know if something is wrong that I haven't picked up on.

I just ordered a BenQ GW2765HT. I'm hoping that 1440p is cleaner on a 27" then 1080p. Gaming comes second but "fuzzy" text is not acceptable. It's IPS so I"m also hoping for little to no bleed...

I have two Korean Achieva Shimians sitting on my desk, since August 2012. They've been great for gaming and web usage. Even LED based back lighting too, no ghosting or dead pixels on either. YMMV.

I was looking at that monitor. Its here for $500 but apparently there is bleed:

on local forums.

This is actually pretty funny, I passed on X99 as its immature and then passed on a new monitor as my eyes glazed over trying to find a decent 27" IPS monitor for gaming that didn't have some issues with backlight bleed, IPS glow, PWM flicker, or dancing gremlins . . . . .

I've avoided this one due to the PWM backlight. I'm tempted to try it, however I think it uses the same panel as the VP2770.

No, I didn't run it out of spec. Just using it normally out of the box. I actually meant to say "overshoot" ghosting instead of "overdrive". Some revisions of the 2713HM are fine but the newer ones seem to have this issue, which is the panel I received (A00 - manufactured 2014). If you're not noticing anything I wouldn't worry about it. Ignorance is bliss, I wonder if I would even notice some of the issues I describe above if I hadn't read reviews of these monitors beforehand
