Does a laptop with these specs exist?

I'm looking for the following Windows laptop for a Black Friday price of under $500 (and I realize that I may be being unrealistic):

At least 15" screen, preferably, but not necessarily, a touchscreen
Core i5 or comparable
At least 500GB hard drive
Preferably, but not necessarily, 256GB SSD
8GB RAM

There won't be any heavy graphics demands, so that's not a factor.

There are already models out that meet those requirements. What retailers would you like to purchase them from?

Does it matter? As long as it's a reputable company, price is the most important factor.

Thank you for your reply.

Thank you, fralexandr. I clicked on the link and then clicked on See Deal. That generated a google shopping search with no results! I went to Dell's Website, but all I found was that model with a non-touch screen. I chatted with a Dell rep, who confirmed that they don't have a touchscreen for that model. If you can provide me with a better link, I'll be happy to take another look.

Thanks again.

And this is why i asked you what retailers you wanted to buy from. The same stores and prices are not available in all countries. The link Fralexandr gave you works fine for me too. Maybe there isn't a Costco near you?

I did ask: Does it matter? At the time I wrote that, I didn't see why it might be a factor. Unfortunately, I do now. I'm not a Costco member. And the link not working for me turned out to be a glitch. After you wrote that the link worked for you, fralexandr, I tried again and it worked fine. Go figure.

If there are no other recommendations, I'll consider asking a friend who's a member to get it for me.

Thank you both again.

Most of the Black Friday deals below $500 will include either an SSD or a hard drive, but not both. Walmart does has an HP available now for $399 with a Ryzen 5 (comparable to an i5) that includes a 128GB SSD and a 1TB hard drive. Most of the systems that have a 256GB or larger SSD and hard drive will be game systems priced above your $500 price range. The previously linked machine at Costco only has an SSD but is otherwise what you want.

What I would suggest is buying a laptop that has your chosen processor, 8GB of memory, at least a 1080p screen, and the 256GB NVMe SSD. Make sure the SSD is listed as being NVMe so you can be sure that the hard drive bay is empty. You can then add a 500GB or 1TB 2.5" mobile hard drive (like a WD Blue or Black) for between $25 and $70 to get your secondary storage.

A good listing of known BF deals is here. Use the "Search ad items" search box in the upper right corner of the page to search for 'laptop' and you'll get a good list of known deals to start looking through. You also might want to look at the Dell Outlet (both home and work) to see if you can find a refurb that you can work with.

If you don't mind a Lenovo, OD has an I7-1065G7 based system with 256GB SSD and HD screen (non-touchscreen) for $450+tax. Do note that you have to join their free membership rewards program to get that price:

Lenovo IdeaPad S340 at Office Depot

you can always sign up for costco purchase it and then get a refund for your membership after you decide you want to keep the laptop i like to buy gas there since seems like decent gas and also buy toilet paper paper towels organic sugar, milk, cheese, eggs, sometimes meat (not the best price for meat but good quality surely) not saying they are the best place to buy a laptop as i would prob buy it used on ebay if it was for me, a few years ago i bought one with mx150 and the specs you wanted for 400ish? acer nitro or something still works great upgraded the ssd to a nvme 1tb / maybe to long of a post hah

you know just because it has a ssd doesnt mean the laptop will take a hdd too. the acer i mention is lacking the cabling for the hdd ((it has a space for it but can not install as no cabling) (i attempted to buy a cable to make it work but purchased the wrong one and well it didnt fit on so just put a 1tb nvme instead of using the 256gb ssd+1tb hdd)

True. However, more of them than not still include them (that Lenovo I linked to does have both SATA and NVMe ports) especially for machines with 15" screens and up. In another year or two, that probably won't be the case anymore as most manufacturers can't wait to carve anything they can off the motherboard to save a few cents.

Like anything else, you have to research before buying. Dell and HP are both great about posting technical service manuals for machines which makes it easy to determine what can and can't be added, while I'm not surprised you had issues with the Acer as they are especially notorious for penny pinching.

Thank you, killster1. My wife's laptop has been giving her all kinds of trouble and I want to get her a new one. Used won't do in this case.

Not a bad deal - nice thing about Dell is that they provide service manuals and parts are plentiful:
$399.99 Dell Inspiron 5593, 10th gen i5, 8 GB memory, 1080p non-touchscreen, 256GB NVMe SSD, also supports hard drive

A few dollars outside your budget, but here goes:
$549 Dell Inspiron 5591 2-n-1, 10th gen i5, 8 GB memory, 1080p touchscreen, 256GB NVMe SSD, also support hard drive

Dell Home Outlet and Dell Business Outlet are also a good place to look for older machines (7th/8th generation processors) that are perfectly useable. They sell new, certified refurbs, and scratch/dent systems (I've never seen a certified refurb from there that didn't look brand new, and a couple of scratch/dent systems where you couldn't even see the damage). To purchase from the Business Outlet, enter your name as the business name.

Even after Black Friday, you can find on eBay; Dell Latitude 7480's with ONSITE support for $250-$350, which are going to be far more reliable than consumer based computers with better support than the standard 1yr warranty. And you can upgrade the warranty with Dell by calling them.
Units come with: 8GB-16GB with SSD, and upgrade path to NVME SSD's.

It's only 14 inches. And I wasn't interested in anything not new. (Prices for new are, obviously, higher.)

Thank you anyway.
