Over the past coupla years, based on responses from my previous posts, I think there really are people who live in their mother's basement. And jobless. Any takers on this?

olds' mother lives in her son's basement. She's seen a lot, but has refused to divulge anything, despite the multiple subpoenas.

I lived at home until I was.....23?

My computer/electronics room was indeed located in the basement, and I was in there quite a lot.
I did always have a job though, and I was apparently rather useful around the house.

really? that seems very odd to me

I've lived in or had family in all the Mexican border states as well as Nevada and have never ever seen a house with a basement. Well, except one time where I was with my mom home-shopping and we went into some fancy $2000000 house with a basement-level home theater, but I don't count that. Basements are a Midwest thing IIRC.

interesting, ive never lived in a house that didn't have a basement. All over the north east. Older house almost always have them, most new ones do if not a full then a walkout

Basements are extremely uncommon here except on old houses. Almost everything is built on concrete slabs now.

Not basement, upstairs. 25yo. Employed full time but I'm a low income earner. Rent is very high here so I'd be living paycheque to paycheque in my current situation. Basically no wiggle room for sudden expenses, like the dead alt in my car that I had to fork out $400 to fix this month.

Waiting for a better job to come along. I'm hoping that my savings will be enough by then to invest in a condo or townhouse. Fingers crossed it's sooner rather than later.

for awhile.

my parents refused to buy an air conditioner for my bedroom when I was a kid... it started out that I would just sleep in the basement rec room during the summers and go back up to my bedroom when school started, but as the years went on, moving back upstairs in August slid to September and October and eventually, by the time I was in high school, my parents gave up the fight and just let me move into the basement permanently.

after I graduated college, I moved back into my basement bedroom for about 2 years until I moved out on my own (I did move back into my parents house a couple years later due to a lease issue -- my old lease ended and I didn't want to renew it, but I hadn't found a new place yet -- but that was only for about 2 months and I stayed in their guest room)

alas, nowadays my basement bedroom is no more... my dad gutted it and had shelves built in to support his compulsive shopping addiction.

I live with my parents. I pay for everything, but they are still working. Grew up with very low income (ghetto-level income (<20k combined household)), so they can barely support themselves and have no savings when they raised me and my siblings.

I'm not white, so it's normal and accepted in my culture.

I did until I was 25. In retrospect, I should have gotten in debt up to my eyeballs and rented an apartment.

Yes, in the basement. Although I'm 18, and I'll be heading to college several states away in august. I guess it isn't weird until after the summer of your high school graduation!
