I'd be more worried about the instruments that he didn't care to elaborate on. Ever been socked in the eye with a fleshlight? (I haven't, I swear)

My math is a different formula I guess.

colt mccoy - more wins as a starter, more touchdowns, more bowl wins as a starter, more completions, more passing yards, better completion percentage, better qb rating. i could go on.

mccoy > tebow

Tebow has 105 touchdowns 2006-2008 (passing:66 rushing:43)
McCoy has 99 touchdowns 2006-2008 (passing:83 rushing:16)

Tebow>McCoy

Tebow's combined QB rating from 2006-2008 = 183.2
McCoy's combined QB rating from 2006-2008 = 159.1

Tebow>McCoy

EDIT: I did see Colt McCoy with higher numbers in one category that stands out.

Tebow interceptions 2006-2008 = 9
McCoy interceptinos 2006-2008 = 32

I could go on, but I don't feel the need too prove any further that your pulling your shit from your ass.

That's a hot steaming plate of win that theplaidfad just served up.

We didn't field the strongest team this year, for some reasons I can easily figure out and others that allude me (mostly returning seniors from a strong team last year)... but to put that much of a fight up against Texas, to where a miracle final moment touchdown gave them the victory. They don't have a strong defense, or else our team would have looked like trash most likely... we haven't fared well with strong defenses recently.

The big 12 does not suck.

Kansas won their bowl, missouri won their bowl, Nebraska won their bowl, Texas won their bowl.

hm.. 6 teams represented from the Big 12 and only 2 lost (OK and OKState)

The Pac-10 won the National Championship for the 3rd year in a row? Or 5 out of the last 10? Yeah, you act like a Pac-10 fan, stupid and all.

I think it's been prove than FL stopped an OK team that had scored 60 points in their last 5 games. But, lets let the Pac-10 retards speak up.

Stupid and all? One Pac-10 school can singlehandedly rape the SEC in academics, but really it's time to stop quoting small stats and using that to justify your conference as the top dog because clearly if you want to play this, I think there's plenty of stats out there to make the SEC look like a steaming pile of crap. *cough*Tennessee*cough*

When did college football fans become conference homers? My team is Clemson University. I do not care about the ACC more than I do my tigers. When Clemson played in the peach bowl a year ago, we lost to Auburn. Most of the time you expect fans to be proud of their TEAM.

Instead, as we exited the stadium, all the fans could do was cheer "SEC, SEC,SEC". I mean really? Really? You are so proud of your conference?

When did conference loyalty become such a big deal? There is only one team I care about. It is the Clemson Tigers. I don't care about the conference. Will I discuss the merits of each conference strength? Sure. In football the SEC is the best conference hands down. Just like in basketball, the best conference is the ACC. In baseball, the best conference recently is the ACC. But that doesn't mean every team in the best conference is worth a sh*t. Once again in football this year, Clemson was extremely subpar. We played an SEC middle of the road team in South Carolina. South Carolina plays in the mighty SEC. We stomped their asses once again.

2004, when an undefeated SEC team was left out of the MNC game, so we could watch a vastly overrated chokelahoma get curb stomped.

Okie light lost too, so the Big 12 South was 1-3 in bowl games. The B12 south pretty much destroyed the north in intraconference play.

stop using a handful of games to levy unjustified claims regarding entire conferences
there is no transitivity is sports, all you have is the outcome of a single game. all you know is that on day X, team A was better than team B.

Where did these numbers come from? This is what I found on Yahoo sports:

Tebow's combined QB rating from 2006-2008 = 124.1
McCoy's combined QB rating from 2006-2008 = 107.8

And a major key to these numbers you left out:

Tebow's Pass attempts 2006-2008 = 681
McCoy's Pass attempts 2006-2008 = 1176

Yes, Tebow has more total touchdowns, but we are talking about the QB position, which means he should be a better passer than a runner. When considering the future of both (i.e., prospect as an NFL QB):

McCoy > Tebow

That's why there is a QB rating. It shows that Tebow is much more efficient than McCoy with the passes he does throw.

And here I was thinking Vandy might be a decent academic school. *EDUT* Now that I think about it, who really cares. We're talking about football bowls not math bowls.

And yes, Tennessee blew this year. We were god awful. But hey, we have one of those shiny BCS national championship titles too. Just shows how much the power ebbs and flows in this conference each year. Don't worry, we'll be back in the next two or three seasons. At least I hope so...

True, however, if Tebows throws another 500 passes as McCoy did, his INT's are sure to go up, which will in turn bring the rating down to a level closer to that of McCoy's. Another number I found interesting:

Sacks in career

McCoy - 61
Tebow - 28

Even with the added attempts, Tebow wouldn't have been sacked as often. Props to Florida's O-Line.

As a college athlete: Tebow > McCoy

As a college (and future) quarterback: McCoy > Tebow

I stand by my numbers, here's two different sources.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Tebow
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt_McCoy

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/...rofile?playerId=175772
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/...rofile?playerId=183484
*Note, the ESPN links do not show the rushing touchdowns it looks like.

Now, in retrospect, I was simply showing that hdeck was pulling "Colt McCoy" is better at this and this and this" comments from his ass. You can argue all day about McCoy being a future NFL great, but when it comes down to it, Tim Tebow has proven to mean more and do more for his team and himself than McCoy on the collegiate level. Isn't that what this is about? This is a college football thread, isn't it???

EDIT: And you knew my point before I even finished posting it
As a college athlete: Tebow > McCoy

As a college (and future) quarterback: McCoy > Tebow
And this will probably hold true.

Wait wait wait... Your defense is that McCoy has twice as many pass attempts? Hahahaha... If that's the case then he should have double the passing TDs (which he doesn't) and only twice as many interceptions (he has about 3.5 times the INTs that Tebow has).

Ok...

FWIW, I would love to have seen USC play Florida. I really don't think Utah would have had a chance against either but I guess we'll never know 'cause there's NO PLAYOFF SYSTEM.

colt mccoy 332-434 77% 3850yd 34-8 air; 135 for 579yd 11td ground

vs common opponent (oklahoma)
jesus tebow 18-30 60% 232yd 2-2

bcs bowl game performance
jesus tebow (same as above)
colt mccoy 41-59 70% 400yd 3-1 total

passed and ran more efficiently than tebow. with a worse supporting cast than tebow.

he did more with less than tebow. and even his backup (jevan snead/ole miss) beat tebow.

SEC had a down year, especially with georgia and lsu...but florida did awesome, and deserves the national title
Big XII was probably overrated this year
PAC 10 - the weakness of the conference really hurts USC, who very well could have been the best team in the nation
Big 10 sucks bad, as usual

I never mentioned passing TD's. My point about the rating is that with a difference of less than 17 (as per the numbers I quoted), then Tebow's rating would have been much closer to the of McCoy's because his INT's would have went up. Yes, I realize his TD's would have went up also, but the QB rating formula you lose more from an interception than you gain from a TD.
