Does anyone enjoy TF2 as much as I do

I feel like I'm the only guy that I know that still plays TF2 frequently. seems like every other hardcore player out there is out on Battlefield or COD, or even CS or Titanfall. But I still play TF2 with a good 500+ hours on it (just began playing it a month or so ago).

TF2 is one of my all-time favorites. Only reason I don't play it is because it's aged on me now (I started when it was in beta).

Understandable, I mean sometimes even I get strained after a while.

But it's always fun to just go out for mind numbing chaos, and by that I mean it's not always serious at all which is a great thing to just wind down after a stressful day or something

I have not really played it for the last year.

I started in beta and looking at my stats, I was up to 2346 hours since they started being tracked (well after beta started)

Checking a steam friend who is playing currently, it says 3763 hours.

Yes, it is a addictive game at times.

edit: I should not have checked, of the people on my friends list that play, most are 1000+ with the upper being one with 14731 hours. 36hours so far this last 2 weeks.

I got the game (Orange Box bundle) the day it came out on Steam and have not stopped playing it to this day. The crappy hats and cosmetics destroyed the game's wonderful art style but I can tolerate it because the game play is still fantastic.

I tried to get back into it recently and searched for vanilla servers, but even if they were tagged as such they still had all the bullshit in them.

If someone started a 24 man no new guns, no hats, no crits server I would play daily.

Exactly the same for me. Same for counterstrike. I don't like Counterstrike Source. The source engine changed the feel for me.

Same here. Probably my all time favorite game, but I get burnt out on it, so I set it aside for a few months, then play it for a few months. hats, new guns, crits, don't bother me.

I have by far more time played in TF2 than any other shooter. Granted, it's only a drop in the bucket (377 hours according to Steam) compared to some people in this thread, but, since I don't play shooters very much, it's a testament to the game's fun.

500+ hours in a month? Woah dude...no joke I bet you do get "strained".

I bounced back and forth with TF2. I was a HUGE TFC fan, and when I first heard they were doing the cartoony stuff in TF2 I got pissed, but then played it when I got the orange box and thought it was pretty fun. Then got tired of all the Memeish stuff and left before hats and F2P took hold.

Don't play the game anymore, and I don't miss it. I do miss TFC though, nothing will ever beat going into the enemy base and giving everyone AIDS :biggrin:

This is my goto game........almost every night.

I started another thread here looking for players: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2380831 and hoping we could setup an Anandtech "Fight Night".....I just don't know how to go about doing that. If someone could volunteer in doing this, we could have blast!! :thumbsup:

Same here, I didn't want to play a game where I had to keep track of all the new shiz they kept throwing in, not only hats but custom this-or-that sentry guns, rocket launchers, etc.

A possibly bigger problem is free to play, which greatly expanded the playerbase and diluted the talent level. A lot more noobiness after that with so many casual players flitting in and out of the game.
