Does anyone have Arctic Silver, and an ohm-meter?

I am wondering about the electrical conductivity of Arctic Silver paste. Is it such that you can stick ohm-meter probes in a glob of it, and measure a short? Can someone try this? Would be real helpful if you can, looking at using it for something other than its intended purpose.

I just did it for you. NO continuity. This is in line with what the maker's website explains. It may be conductive under extreme pressure.

virtual wire, heh no. i have 2 metal surfaces that DO touch and make electrical contact, however the contact may be so minimal that what I might really have is a fuse. i was wondering if smearing arctic silver in there would ensure conductivity

How about this: Anyone with a capcitance meter? Arctic Silver's manufacturer says that AS should not be conductive, but that it might be slightly capacitive.


OP: Best bet would be to just head down to Radio Shack and buy a conductive pen. It dispenses this liquidy stuff that probably will look like Arctic Silver, but it is conductive. I've also heard that there's a liquid used to repair window defrosters in cars, so that might also do the trick. It used to be popular for closing the gaps between the bridges on the good old AMD Athlon, T-bird, T-bred, and Palomino processors to enable overclocking.

the pen sounds like it might work, as long as it is like a pasty consistency that will form to fill gaps

You can get copper based anti sieze at most good auto supply stores if not there is also a nickle based type. both should be very conductive but the copper would be my 1st choice.
