I need to do a low level format I believe the system may have a virus. When I install win98 it all goes fine until it boots for the first time then sys files are mising.... .vxd and such. I don't know what else it could be unless the drive is shot but I haven't heard of this kind of failure before- has anyone else? This is for a friend and I don't want to replace it unless I know its bad... she's an older lady and doesn't have much money. Any help would be great. Its a system I patched together over a year ago and gave to her. Its an old Gateway MB with 32 megs ram PII 266 with riva 128 agp 8x cdrom teac and awe32 sound card and that's it.
