Does anyone here have/had Neo*Geo ?

Well I just picked this old system up at a flea market for $90 with the Metal Slug series, Samurai Shodown series, and King of Fighters inc. 99' series . I can't beleive how great this system is! I mean the Metal Slug games are the most fun shoot-em up's I've ever played and the SS and KOF are freakin' great. So does anyone have this system?
Also, now checking eb@y, it seems I got a hell of a deal!

Sorry to tell you that Neo Geo has pulled out of the North American Market. So if you want any new games you have to buy from import stores.

To relive those nostalgic moments you can always go d/l one of the neo geo emulators. All the games I tried worked w/ near perfect emulation.

I thought the neo geo was a small gameboy-like thing that came out not long ago..?

I can't believe a company hasn't come out with something to decimate the gameboy. Its like decade old technology...with what we have now I really think a small, nice-assed screen full color, sound, everything could be made.

Brooks: That's Neo*Geo pocket you are thinking of. I think the reason gameboy is still around is because so many companies make games for it and it's cheap.

phlashphire: you're right, NeoRage is an excelent emulator for neogeo. The games look just as good and in some cases better, like if you put on "edge enhancement". I had that for a little while that's why I bought the system.

I'm a big Neo-Geo fan. I'm currently in the process of trying to get every Neo-Geo game ever made (for my emulator of course). It really, really does bite that SNK pulled up stakes in all but Japan...but at least SNK is still around somewhere!

Just get the roms. Unless you're ready to pay 100-150 for a game, and that's cheap.

YUP! I have the *real deal* ORIGINAL Neo Geo. It's in my closet now. Only if my digital camera was working I could show you pix of it!

Yup, and this ain't the Neo Geo *CD* either, this is the Neo Geo CARTRIDGE system (they actually use these (or used to) in Neo Geo arcades) The cartridges were approx. 200 bux each when I bought them, which was like two years ago! Whew, and these are HUGE monsters! They are almost as big as a PC game box... I have 3 games for the Neo Geo: Samurai Spirits (In Japan it's Samurai Spirits instead of Showdown), Nam (a great shoot 'em up game, but nothing beats Metal Slug), and this Baseball game... My friends and I would just play straight night and day on our JOYSTICK ARCADE PADS (not those pansy little controller pads) and have mini tournaments and stuff...

Those were the days...

All right, good to hear some are using neorage v06b (Neo Geo emulator). It's too cool and way underrated with all this 3D stuff nowadays...I just beat Viewpoint, have Metal Slug 1 and 2 (and X) most of the KOF and Samurai Shodown series, oh yeah and Aero Fighters 1 and 2.

It beats the hell out of paying 50-350 for the home carts, some of which are almost impossible to find (like the incredible shooter Blazing Star) or were never released (Super Dodgeball). The roms are pretty easy to find, and look and play just like the arcade on any 233+ Pentium.

Well I must say the Neo Geo is completley awesome. It also currently hold my favorite baseball game ever (Baseball Stars 2) but also one of the best Contra clones ever, the Metal Slug series. Plus a bunch of other neat games.
