I like the idea of Reddit, don't really care for the format, but sometimes it's the only place you can find info & discussion on certain niche topics where you want to find the most current information.

Reading the sidebar and the front page, looks like both subreddits are open to developers coming in and either asking for help or promoting their product. I'd start there.

Reddit is about 70% male. I think it's basically a tame 4chan.

It's not even close to the cesspool 4chan is. I've had no issues finding useful information or debating how shitty my football team or your hockey team is on the likes of r/android, r/ChiBears, r/nfl or r/hockey. Yeah, there's the occasional troll running around but that's true of literally every public forum on the internet.
