Does anyone know what charmapx.exe does?

I'm running W2k SP3. I found it in C:\WINNT\System32\
It's about 34.5Kb in size. It was making some sort of internet connection because my activity lights on my cable modem were solid. as soon as I killed the proccess it stopped. I searched microsofts knowledge base, google, and symantecs AV center and didn't find anything. I'm going to install Norton antivirus now and see if it finds anything, but I'm not too hopeful.

try a search for "spybot kill & destroy", which seems to detect a hell of a lot more of the norti little buggers than Adaware, though it isnt quite so user friendly.

Yep, I tried that too, but it still didn't find anything. I'm assuming that it is something I don't want. I put it on a floppy and deleted it from my computer. I just hope there aren't anymore remnants of it that I'm missing.

I did find a reference to a Japaneese tool with that name, but it appears to have somethign to do with kanji/latin conversion (hard to tell, I can't read all the txt file with it). Can you shoot a zipped copy to the email in my profile, I'll take a peak and then send it over to the security response team at work (Symantec) if it's suspicious.
