Does anyone know when P4 Dual-cores hit the market?

I've read everything about them, and for the price they look good. I'm simply asking because i've got customers looking for them, not for myself, i'm waiting for the AMD dual cores.

Anyone heard of the release date?

Supposedly now, but like AMD a paperlaunch and I have seen the end of May for the retail channel, maybe a little sooner for the OEM

Even if they release the CPU tomorrow, it won't matter.
I heard I think end of May for 945/955 chipsets, so expect processors around the same time.
No point in processors if you don't have a motherboard they will work on.

Zip Zoom Fly lists the Asus P5WD2 Premium as being in stock at the moment.

The first few available ANYthing of new tech is always going to be pricey. Why? Greed mostly. Supply vs. demand. ASUS knows the demand will be high for this chipset and so do OEM vendors. They will try to squeeze the life out of your wallets and pockets until more vendors offer the same thing at lower prices to compete.

The Asus P5WD2 Premium can be had at other sites for less. I have one coming friday. I justify the price b/c of the featureset and especially the Wifi a/b/g, analog/digital tv tuner, fm stereo pci card that comes with it.

I think I'm going to hold off on a Venice and just go for a X2 4400+

Supposedly the Intel dual core EE's are available now. Most of the shipping dates from OEM's are a few weeks away so take that as you will. it's also questionable how many desktop users can afford the P4 EE's (extreme edition but realistically should be called expensive edition) which run roughly $900-1100. That's for the CPU's alone. Not counting the rest of the system. This is what they call a paper launch.
