The metal door underneath the plastic skid is strong and complete. A forklift driving into the side of a saturn will NOT puncture the interior (ask me how I know )
Gigglegirl, a few things you will need to watch out for:
-oil consumption, check at least every 500 miles
-cylinder head cracking on S*1's (SOHC motors)
-hard transmission shifting into reverse; a pair of nuts in the transmission are known to loosen on some trannies and should be repaired ASAP if you get that
-ignition coil packs are a common source of ignition trouble
Cheap to fix and easy to work on are it's best attributes, as well as getting pretty decent mileage and not having to worry about dents.
