Does anyone still get the AMD 7xxx bug where your monitor doesn't wake up from sleep?

Exactly a year ago, when Catalyst 12.4 was new, this was a huge problem. Almost every day I'd walk up to my PC and move the mouse, only to find my monitor wouldn't turn on and I'd have to force a reboot.

Then AMD fixed the problem with 12.6 beta onward (or at least, they said they did). But now, with 13.4 (and last January's 13.1), I'm starting to get it again.

It's a lot more rare now; it doesn't happen everyday like it used to. Rather, it happens maybe once every two weeks. So it's not often at all, but it's still annoying when it happens.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this lately. Anyone else using 13.1 or 13.4 and having this issue?

yep, something similar: monitor lights are up, but no picture. However, simple locking the windows (Win + L) does the trick - monitor shows the lock screen. Interestingly, never happens on XP - only on Windows 7.

Happens to me all the time. Every time I let the computer go to sleep, sometimes just when the monitor turns off.

AMD 5xxx and my LCD has up to a 30 second delay waking from sleep. Been this way for over a year, maybe longer.

Good to know I'm not the only one.

Interesting. In my case, the monitor doesn't come on at all; it doesn't receive a video signal and it remains in sleep mode despite me moving the mouse.

You mentioned the lock screen. Usually I lock Windows when I'm away from my computer, but last night when I got the sleep-bug, Windows wasn't locked. Makes me wonder if the bug only occurs when you don't leave your PC locked. I think the Windows lock screen might actually have some affect on the way your video driver behaves. Might be worth testing.

Nice to see your lengthy vacation has made you more helpful.

I still have this issue sometimes, but I've only ever had it since getting a 2560x1440 monitor and using Display Port. I even picked up one of those Accel cables that supposedly fixed this issue. I still have the bug, but to a lesser degree. I also fix it using windows lock.

Right here. I have never had a driver issue with NVidia or AMD.
And I am currently on a hd 7770 and I don't have this issue. Sorry.

Yes, but only on my panel that has to run through a DVI-DP adapter. I've been blaming the adapter.

lol I knew one would come out. must be nice to live a world where you can avoid every single issue related to a video card. so I guess all those updates were only to help others get their games and other issues working properly.

how is that any less helpful than the people that are full of crap claiming to never have had an issue of any kind even all the way back to the ATI 9800? there are issues and there is no way to avoid every single one of them.

I think the sleep bug you described has been there since the 6xxx cards or even earlier. My workaround is to disable (auto)sleep and to manually set the pc to sleep(when I'm going to be away for a long time) and it will respond to the wakeup signal flawlessly.

Letting it sleep by itself means that my monitor stays switched off while everything else will wakeup meaning your keyboard/mouse clicks will start apps and do things.
Now that someone has mentioned 13.5 fixes this, time to update..

I think its an issue of different monitors requiring different voltages to wake up and cheap dp cables don't help.

Also curious.
isn't it obvious? I knew someone would come in this thread and say they never had that issue or any other issue to boot. people forget about things or dont consider some things issues at all. its impossible to use computers and various hardware for 7 or 8 years and not run into an issue of some sort. the issue in this thread is pretty common and is one of the many that are well documented. you cant avoid them all.

So you wanted to pre-troll ahead of time, just in case. Gotcha

I don't use sleep, I couldn't tell you.

But, I still get the bug where my mouse cursor doesn't always appear if I click in a different area of text. If I type, it is like the mouse cursor was there, but for some reason it doesn't show.

i have this prob. doesn't happen all the time though. but can't figure out a pattern of when it does decide to crop up. 7950 and cat 13.5 on win8 x64 pro. connected to my monitor via DL-DVI-D.

under power options
i have "turn off display after" "10 min" set.
i have "put the computer to sleep" "never" set.

Have those of you that are having this problem, trying disabling PCI-E link-state power management (set it to maximum, or always-on, or whatever)?

In the Windows power options? Can't say I've tried that.

Forgive me, I can't quite decipher your post. Are you saying I should set it to Off, or to Maximum Power Savings?
