for the short time I had with 7970 crossfire. never had this occur.

680 tri-sli was smoothing sailing until bf4.

now going back to 290x tri-fire.

is this exclusive to 7xxx or is R9 infected too.

I notice that when I get this bug hwinfo on my keyboard LCD shows my GPU clocks as 0mhz core and 0mhz memory.

That's normal (or rather a bug in monitoring software) and happens whether the monitor wakes up or not.

i got this issue too, using hd7790
it happens rare...but it happens

It not so good to see AMD don't imporove anything for older graphic cards (hd7xxx is not even old) with the new drivers. ..... low support
I think amd is so cheap not because of price/performance but because they actually worth this money overall.

A good company doesn't launch a product and then forget about it...you have to support it at least a while. nvidia still supports gtx4xx
I think i will switch to nvidia first chance i get.

I have 7790 too but I haven't had the problem since many driver versions ago. There must be something else in your system/monitor/cable that is causing it. Probably also the reason why this is so hard to fix for AMD, it works fine on many systems but not on some other systems.

I have this issue on DP, but I never saw the issue on DVI, and I don't use converters for DVI->DP.

I've been testing the option "enable gpu scaling" for quite some time now and the wake up problem hasn't occurred yet.

i'm just gonna have to live with this I think. There's nothing peculiar about my setup other than I use afterburner to do a small overclock, and I use single link dvi. Disabling ulps did nothing. I already have powerplay disabled so I run 3d clocks all the time. I can get out of the black screen with ctrl+alt+delete

I had it with my 7850 until I hooked up a second monitor. After removing the second monitor, the problem hasn't returned.

My wife's computer also has a 7850. I ran a second cord to her monitor and it resolved too.

No idea if this will work for anyone else though.

yup i have the same issue, 7870 factory overclocked, not using any adapters just straight dvi.

so far unplugging and replugging the dvi works. minor inconvenience for me since my pc is right next to my desk but still annoying as hell.

Its ridiculous that this is still a problem... I'm an AMD fan, I've owened a 6950, 6970 and bought a 7970 at launch but I sold it recently due to suffering with this bug on and off for years now. I wrote 10+ emails to customer support helping them to get to the bottom of it... I now have a 780ti, one AMD customer lost.

Yes this happens to my PC with Radeon 7750 where sometimes my monitor lights up and goes back to sleep .I have to keep restarting multiple times until finally monitor lights up.But even on the latest drivers this problem still persists.I wonder when and will fix this problem.

enable auto detection of display when opening CCC and enable hotkey and assign key to start CCC.

It just occurred to me - it happens on my 290.
I never thought about it, as I would always pass by this thread "oh HD 7000, move along, nothing to see here".
And so I've never identified this bug, and also because it happens only occasionally and (possibly) only when I undervolt (need to investigate)

oh btw... when finally I take down the system power and RESTART my PC, 290 sits at 947/150 clocks - on the desktop!
so I have to reset my display manually to regain its full functionality. what up with that??

I seem to have fixed my problems by setting my PC to high performance in control panel/power options. It was on balanced when I was having the problems. Have not experienced any issues in a week and a half on high performance setting.

By default High Performance plan has "Put the computer to sleep" = "Never"
If so that doesn't seem like a fix to me, right?

i have this issue with my R9 280X. Tried turning off the power saving features including link state power management, doesn't do anything.

it has a fresh copy of win 8 on it, so I don't think theres a driver issue of any kind.

Pretty sure it's something about the power states.
If I was too much troubled with this, I'd try raising P-State(s) voltage slightly.

I haven't had the problem since I posted here, BUT I did reintroduce my two other monitors to the setup.

i can alt+ctrl+del out of it, and I'm using a ps2 keyboard. I think that might be why. Someone else might wanna give that a shot.

how about changing the values in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ATI\ACE\Settings\Runtime\Graphics\OverDrive5, both of them to false?

edit:actually it can be disabled through overdrive page in CCC (that's what I did anyway). by default, overdrive is enabled (the switch is on in the page) even though graphics overdrive (tick box) in the sub-page is disabled. this is my last resort, if the problem still persists, maybe I just settle with alternating between power options (by preventing monitor sleep especially when I'm downloading). by the look of it, it has been quite some time now it hasn't occurred. by the way I'm using DVI to VGA adapter, maybe that's why ctrl-alt-delete and also re-attach cable to the port don't work.
