I accidentally hit it once in a while and it pisses me off. I freaking hate that key.

I actually have MS Word set up with a macro so hitting the insert key does nothing. In the past I've mistakenly hit the key and it activates overtype mode, which is good for erasing important things and not much else.

My keyboard at home doesn't have an insert key, thank god.

Oh yeah, and on my last keyboard, I pried that key off entirely.

I never used Home or End until about 5 years ago when I started learning programming. Now I love those 2 keys.

Every day.

Shift+Ins = Paste
Shift+Del = Cut

Since the DOS days.

I rarely use it to toggle insert/overwrite.

the 'right click' key (next to the right windows key)
Lots of times when I'm navigating w/ keyboard.

pause/break (once in a blue moon during POST)
All the time:
Ctrl+PauseBreak shows command line PING statistics without interrupting continuous ping.
Win+PauseBreak = System Properties

Most F-buttons except F5? Pretty much everything in the clusters above the directional keys except delete...
F6 pretty much EVERY time I want to type a web address or tab over to Google search.
F5 every time I ever reload a page or refresh a folder (sometimes Ctrl+F5 for non-cached web page refresh)
F2 every time I want to rename something.
F3 almost every time I want to search a doc (though I sometimes do Ctrl+F)
F1? Never.

Over the last couple weeks I've using the ctr-End key quite a bit on ATOT. With 100 wisdoms/page the pages tend to get long, particularly the Hume thread.

Edit: F6? Wow, didn't know about that one. I'll have to try it and see if I like it.

I use ctrl-L/ctrl-K to quickly access the browser location bar or search bar. Of the F keys, I use F5 and F9-F11 for debugging. Pause/break is bound to winamp global hotkeys to play/pause

I rarely use F1, F3-F5, F7, F10-F11, Insert Key, Context Menu (right click) key, or Pause Break..
Scroll lock switch my KVM device. F2 for bios, F6 and F9 for an HP program, F8 for safe mode, F12 for the boot menu.

other seldom used keys for me:

scroll lock (only to disable when i accidentally press it)
the 'right click' key (next to the right windows key)
pause/break (once in a blue moon during POST)

I never use scroll lock, and I didn't know pause break could do that! But yeah, I use insert and the right click key all the time. Pisses me off that new KBs like to rearrange or omit them.

i'm a mouse kind of guy. all those mystery buttons are crazy

I'm always dual-wielding. You'll NEVER see my focusing my mouse on the little min / max / close buttons.

I just never take my left hand away from the keyboard. Without having to precisely position my mouse pointer, I just right-click the title bar and use N, X, C, or R Minimize, Maximize, Close, or Restore. Also works on taskbar buttons. Even if only part of the title bar is exposed, you never need to look for the corner.

The bane of my existence is the odd-ball program that has their own pop-up menu when right-clicking the title bar or taskbar button (like the Windows Photo Viewer in WinXP). Why violate an established usability standard for NO F#@KING REASON?!

I also dual-wield when I'm renaming, cutting / copying / pasting text or files.

Used to use a 3D modeller that used the insert key to add controll points along a spline. Not since then and that was years ago.

Ctrl-alt-insert is a daily use for me. I had to replace my mac keyboard because it didn't have an insert key.
