Does drinking beer count as positive or negative water consumption?

Is there enough water in beer to overcome the dehydrating effects of the alcohol?

no. one of the major reasons you get a hangover is from dehydration.

No, but if you drink a quality unfiltered beer the b12 complex in the remnant yeast should help.

Drink some gatorade before going to bed after a night of partying... IMHO, it works wonders.

Okay, so seriously .. I thought before refrigeration that everybody drank fermented beverages (even if not strictly beer or wine) because water couldn't be trusted to be potable - that story goes hand in hand with the bit about the Romans and their lead flasks. So what's the deal on that?

yeah. maybe if you just drink it slower than modern humans do, then you would be ok

just drink one every couple of hours all day long for a couple of weeks and see if you get dehydrated

Beer costs your body slightly more water then it provides, for that matter so do most soda's & so-called sport drinks that contain sugar...even most fruit juice only comes out slightly on the positive side, with apple juice being among the best at plus roughly 12%.

roman aquaducts

you can still get a fair bit of water from your food, an army mainstay would be a stew (which would clean the water and let you use cheaper meat)

Alcohol = diuretic

Hangover happens because of dehydration, but we all know that already

If the vast majority of my liquid intake comes from fruit juice and beer, how am I alive and not completely dehydrated?
