The thousands who move there every month are probably the same people who can't punch chads or that we see on Cops every day. Don't get me wrong, going to Key West for a couple weeks in the dead of winter would be nice, but the state as a whole is a joke.

So you just generalized an entire state with one trip to Key West, an error with voting machines, and a TV show, and then called FL the joke? I hope your job doesn't consist of doing things that are hard to spell...

Lets see, you don't like people making broad generalizations but you also don't like people actually discussing aspects of the state and life there (which is the majority of this thread).

What exactly ARE we allowed to talk about then? Can we have threads about Florida at all?

Don't be an idiot, I didn't avoid the issue. Did you not read my post? I talked about the hurricanes, I talked about the humidity. I talked about the things that were valid to the question on hand: "Does Florida Suck?" - Not "Does Boca Raton Suck?" Not "Does Traffic Suck?" Not "What are all the bad things about where you live in Florida?"

We're discussing the pros and cons of living in Florida. What makes and does not make Florida "suck".

And yes. You are only allowed to say things that I approve of. In fact, just PM me your posts for this thread. I'll moderate them, and then apply only what I deem good enough to posted here. I'll be adding "Official Florida Guide" in my sig as soon as I get off my phone and on a computer.

I moved from Detroit to Ft Lauderdale in 81 and moved to Jacksonville in 92. Everything that bobdole369 said is true. The only thing he forgot was the 5 pound poison frogs.

The newbees from the north start out loving it but after a couple of years they can?t take the day-to-day sameness and can?t wait to get out. If you?re a northerner you will miss the change of seasons.

That's another good point. There are two seasons, Warmer and Colder than Warmer. Leaves don't change as dramatically, There's no true display of the Bloom of Spring. I know some that do miss that.

I'm a winter hater. I edited my post above... I'm going to leave Michigan. If I ever have the money to buy a summer home, or even a second home though, it will most definitely be in Northern Michigan.

Florida is a great place to visit from what I hear, lot of cool stuff you won't see anywhere else, such as 1 foot long grasshoppers. But do you really want your building in a place that has an actual "hurricane season"?. Rebuilding your property once a year gets expensive and you lose lot of stuff. You'll also need some kind of offsite backup system or you'll also lose all your data every time there's a hurricane.

Huh? do blizzards cause data loss too?? Been through 4 hurricanes and didn't lose a byte. Loss of electricity does not mean your hard drive is wiped, when the power gets restored it still works!! Oh, the bugs, yes there is lots of 'em but that's why they make insecticide for. I've lived in Mass and they have plenty of skeeters too but of course they die quickly in the fall.

It's actually quite the opposite. Jobs we have droves of. Not much in industry, maybe st. pete or jacksonville a little better for those type jobs, but for service stuff - I can think of 12 call centers in broward off the top of my head - thats about 30,000 jobs. I knew of exactly ONE in southeast MI. Oh and there are zero car factories here. Great place if you are a waiter, lawyer, doctor, or pizza delivery guy.
