Does it ACTUALLY work?

Now I have used the net for a long time and like everyone else have received plenty of junk mail. I have signed up for "free dvd's" and things like that, but have never actually got any of that stuff. I saw a advertisement on weather.com for a scooter. You click on it and it tells you that your have to do some sort of product enrollment and after you complete the requiered enrollments you get the scooter.

Now my question is this. Has anyone actually ever completed these requirements and received the product that they describe (ex. PS2, XBOX, IPOD) or is it just a complete scam? I believe that they have to be making money by people using it, so there has to be people actually do this stuff.

I got a free iPod and free monitor. I wasn't one to whore myself to real life friends or even spam on the internet. I bought an ad on Fark.com for the free iPod, and got way more signups than I needed. It came. I'm happy. Gratis Internet is somewhat legit, though certainly it's impossible for most people that sign up to actually get whatever free stuff is offered.

However, the other one that offered you a free scooter, ProductTestPanel.com, is a complete and utter scam. Unlike Gratis Internet's signups, Product Test Panel requires you to pay $400 into a MLM prescription drug thing, and sign up for all sorts of other things. Gratis's sign ups you can just cancel.

I realize I'm going to get flamed because of this forums hatred for all things freeipod, but I'm just sneaking in here to say that it can be legit, and no, I don't want you to sign up under me.

About the only free things I have ever gotten are spam emails and Microsoft Windows Update CDs...

I was actually bored one day, so I searched for "Free magazines" or something, and I actually found a site that sent me some free magazines. It took me a good hour or two to fill out all the surveys, but I look important at work now...

A good rule of thumb for freebies:

if the item is worth more than ~ $1 then expect that you will NOT get it.

I have receieved a few tshirts, baseball caps, bottle openers and crap like that.
Don't expect to get any DVD's or electronics items.
