Does my 3DMark05 score match my system specs?

My specs:

AMD 64 3000+ Venice
1 gig Corsair VS ram
MSI 6800 vanilla 128mb Not OC'ed (325/600)
80gb SATA150 drive

My score: 3589

With latest drivers from MSI.
For Bus it says PCI Express x16
BIOS: 5.41.02.37
IRQ: 18
Forceware version: 76.45

Is that score fine or is it too low

Also, the 6800 runs real cool. It's idling right now at 45 C and it goes up to 53-55 C under load.

My chipset drivers are the latest ones I found at Chaintech's website for the VNF4 Ultra Nforce4 Ultra mobo. THey are version 6.39.

On a related note: How do I install newer chipset drivers over the old ones? Whats the best way to do this? Driver CLeaner? If so then should I simply filter all nvidia related filters in the driver cleaner app to be safe?

Hmmm I'm not sure if that puts it in to perspective...hehe. You're card has 16pp and its overclocked, while mine has 12pp and is not overclocked.

Okay... I was getting pissed off about that too. I was getting only 4k, and I was wondering what was going on. My memory and FSB speeds slow me down. Oh well though. Thanks for the perspective...

Well, thought it might help. ::shrug::

You're aware you can compare your score to other similarly outfitted rigs on the Futuremark website, yes? That may help to determine if your rig is performing upto spec or not.

looks okay, but it's lower than mine

3200+ winchester
6600GT OC'd to 583/1240 (my highest record)

3911 in 3Dmark 05

Maybe to someone more informed it would help. But to me, I just see that you have a much better card and you're overclocked so I have no idea how than can relate to me plain vanilla 6800.

I tried comparing on the futuremark website but the scores are all over the place. I would like to know if the score I'm getting is too low for my specs. I've posted elsewhere and guys have told me that I should be getting in the 4k range.

Thanks anyways.

See what I mean? Crescent has a 6600GT and yet his 3DMark05 score is significantly better than mine. These kind of things have me concerned.

There are so many things that go into that score. Oboard sound vs. soundcard [5% gain right there], memory timings, CPU, drivers, settings [set to performance or quality?].

I'm using the onboard sound that came with my Chaintech NVF4 Ultra mobo. I think realtek ac97 or something like that. I have 1gb of corsair value select memory. My drivers are posted above. The image setting is set to quality. And I'm sure most people have it set there.

Most set to performance actually. At least the ones posting their results all over forums like these. Set to performance, reboot, and run it again. See if you get any decent gains.

I had mine set to highest performance, I turned off all virus scanners and firewalls, and I went to the control panel and set windows for best performance, and changed from windows XP theme to classic windows theme.

EDIT: this may not be true but look at this

6800: 325mhz * 12 (pipelines) = 3,900 somethings
6600GT: 500mhz * 8 (pipelines) = 4,000 somethings
(just so you know somethings are my rating for speed, the higher the bettter)

as you can see the 6600GT is more powerful than the 6800. The only real difference is memory bandwidth

6800: 600mhz
6600GT: 500mhz

but with my card is perfectly stable at 570/1200, I was using EXTREME COOLING when I got to 583/1240.

right click on your desktop, click on properties, under the themes tab you will see a bar that has different themes on it, click on windows classic and then click ok.

The 6800s have a 256-bit memory bus while 6600 series cards only have a 128-bit memory bus. So not only does the 6800 have faster RAM, but it would have twice the theoretical bandwith at the same RAM speed anyway. It's kind of like how can you have dual channel RAM on your motherboard if it makes it any clearer.

My rig gets about 3200 3dmarks in 2005, but I run it at high quality:

Athlon 64 3000+ @2.4Ghz
2GB DDR @ ~180Mhz 2.5-3-7-3 2T
Leadtek vanilla 6800 (All pipes unlocked) 325Mhz core
K8N Neo 2 Plat

aka Inas, ok yeah so I think if I set my image quality to high I would get the same score as you.

Hmmm, maybe I'm fine.

Can someone answer my previous question on how to update motherboard drivers. Its up there somewhere.

Here let me post some of the FPS figures I've been getting while playing CSS:

My settings:

Resolution: 1280x960
Detail settings: All on high
Water: Reflect All
AA: 4xAA
Anis: 8xAnis

My fps:

Video stress test: 78-80 avg.
In game: cs_assault 65-75 avg. spikes to 140, drops to 45 in heated battles or intensive areas.

de_aztec 60-70 avg. and again drops to 45 in intensive siutations, spikes to 110fps in nonintensive.

de_dust2 and de_dust same as above.

6800 have SLOWER ram but at BETTER Bandwith.

both of you are wrong. The 6800 is STOCK 700mhz
700x2=1400
1000x1=1000

6800 will always have better bandwith.

bow gpu wise, crescent is correct, but 35xx is still very low. update all your bioses, drivers(espically your chipset drivers)

as for onboard audio, in non 3d audio mode, the realtek takes around 5-7% cpu load. not a biggie since cpu dosent impact your score that much.
