you ppl are acting stupid now, not me. Why did 3 people say that the games won't run fine at >2.4GHz

My guess is it has something to do with the person running the games...

For most games, your CPU is more than adequate. In some cases, a better CPU would give you better framerates, but a better CPU will not instanty make currently unplayable games suddenly playable, the problem lies elsewhere.

If, after all the time and effort people have put into helping you (in between the insults), the problem is still not fixed, i'd suggest getting someone (such as your local PC tech) to look at it.

Back to this question again. Bottom line dude, you go buy an FX 57 (lets keep it single core to avoid confusion) then your GPU will end up as a bottleneck, go buy a better GPU and your FX 57 will be a bottleneck. Theres always gonna be somthing thats slower!

Unless theres a severe difference with the tech in use, then it WILL be fine. For example pairing a 1.3ghz P4A with an X850XTPE would pose a problem. Your cpu with an X1900XT is fine.

As I mentioned, he DID get a local guy to agree to look at his PC & help him figure out what was wrong on the other forum (forget the site) but my bet is that he blew the help off just like he does with folks suggestions here by apparently not even reading their posts.

And since most games require video processor pwr more greatly over cpu power i highly doubt your cpu is bottle necking. However, if you noticed that great of a increase in performance after overclocking, it might be your processor, but the reason why the game runs faster is because when you boosted your FSB, you also boosted your ram timing times unless u used a divider, and you quite possibly could of boosted your PCI-E bus frequency.

If anything is bottle necking look at your hard drive and concider raiding it. Hard drive technology is the most ancient thing in the computer life line. Were still on magnetic plates, something thats been around since the pre - 1980's. And even at full SATAII speeds, the IO rates are still snails compared to the processing rates and IO rates of RAM.

Think of it this way, if u run 3dmark with CPU rendering vs GPU, even the most highly overclocked cpu will still only pull off sub 15 fps.

Id get a hd to pair your 160gb, raid0 it, wait til xmas when conroe priceses settle down a bit, and then upgrade then.

Raising the PCIe Bus frequency has a negligible effect on performance. Not trying to start anything - just pointing it out.
