Can't say I miss too much about NJ. Spent a good deal of time their in the summers as a kid. One thing I do miss is the pizza; you just cannot get that kind of pizza in my area. Oh how I miss that boardwalk pizza. Not too bad of a state, always enjoyed visiting, but that is about it.

I love having to get out of my car, undo the lock on my gas cap, put my gas cap back on when the attendant is done because it's too hard for them to put a gas cap back on tightly, and pay a price premium for the privledge. Yet another reason NJ blows.

weird as NJ has some of the lowest gas prices in the area.

I always fill up on gas in Jersey when I am cutting through the state. Gas is way cheaper there than it is for me in NY.

That's funny... because NJ's gas taxes are HALF Pennsylvania's.

Pennsylvania: 31.1¢/gal
New Jersey: 14.5¢/gal

All of u out of staters don't know how to drive on the friggin turnpike. Anytime I see a slow driver in the left lane, they're almost always from out of state, gg.

Yes, much like in communist China you don't have to run your own life, and in Africa you don't have to worry about where your next meal is coming from, because it isn't!

I love these threads, mostly because I hate NJ. And I hate NJ because of multiple personal experiences, AND various facts and figures about the state.

NJ is one of the best states to live in the entire country. But it is also one of the most expensive. I like living here

I am flattered as a NJ resident that people care enough to talk about the garden state. You never hear people praising or complaining about life in Arkansas or whatever.

"I'm From New Jersey" from the "Jack's Crows" album by John Gorka (great album, BTW):

I'm from New Jersey
I don't expect too much
If the world ended today
I would adjust

I'm from New Jersey
No I don't talk that way
I watched too much TV
When I was young

I'm from New Jersey
My mom's Italian
I've read those mafia books
We don't belong

There are girls from New Jersey
Who have that great big hair
They're found in shopping malls
I will take you there

I'm from New Jersey
It's not like Texas
There is no mystery
I can't pretend

I'm from New Jersey
It's like Ohio
But even more so
Imagine that

I know which exit
And where I'm bound
The tolls on the parkway
They will slow you down

New Jersey people
They will suprise you
Cause they're not expected
To do too much

They will try harder
They may go further
Cause they never think
That they are good enough

I'm from New Jersey
I don't expect too much
If the world ended today
I would adjust
I would adjust
I would adjust

Seaside Heights is the redheaded stepchild of NJ beaches. It has its advantages, but it's not as nice as other beaches.

RE: the OP - traffic circles have some advantages over other traffic control devices, but the problem is that the traffic on the road eventually exceeds the limits of effectiveness of the circle. Then they have to add traffic lights, which defeats the purpose of the circle entirely. Other road features that are common in NJ, such as jughandles, also have advantages over other ways of handling the same situation.

Everyone always thinks they're so much smarter than everyone else. An engineer who knows a whole lot more about road design and has a whole lot more training in that area than acemcmac designed those roads. Sometimes compromises have to be made for reasons we are not aware of. Yes, some of the roads in NJ are a tangled mess - but we have a hell of a lot of people that need to get from point A to point B and a limited amount of land to work with. Sometimes what would be the ideal solution is not possible to implement for whatever reason.

But yeah, I'm sure acemcmac could do a better job.

Of course I could do a better job. Circles are great when all traffic already in the circle has right of way and when they aren't installed in areas that clearly need something better.

Instead of traffic lights, they need machine gun nests... Imagine the possibilities.

When Chester, PA gets casionos, then all we'll need are a few truckloads of sand and then we can let the Atlantic reclaim NJ. Imagine the possibilities...
