Does PCI card draw power when disabled?

I have a Hauppauge WinTV PVR250 vid capture card that I only use very occasionally. This card runs hot, and I assume uses a good amount of power. If I disable the card in device manager (Win2k), does it still draw power from my Soltek SL-75DRV4 board? IS there any way to keep it from drawing power (or lowering power use) other than taking it out of the box?

Sandra shows it has Power Management version 2.00, but only supports "clock slow down", not D1 or D2 PM states.

Thanks for any help.

It will still draw power when disabled.

And unplugging it is the only way to stop this.

Why are you so concerned about how much power the card uses?

As he said "This card runs hot, and I assume uses a good amount of power. "

Good amount? Depends on how much you consider to be a "good amount." I bet the motherboard itself consumes a lot more power than the TV card; the CPU would use a lot too. The "best" way to reduce PC power consumption is to use a laptop.

It'll still draw power, but nowhere near as much as if you're using it.

It's similar to a graphics card running hotter when stressing it playing games - It'll draw more power when it's in use.

...heh... I DO use a laptop also, but I couldn't figure out how to make the PCI capture card fit in that damn little slot! ;-) I have an ADS USB capture unit that I tried to make work, but it just has too many disadvantages and I don't need portability the way I thought I would.
