Does shaving your pits help with the sweat?

First of all, I shower everyday, twice a day sometimes. I'm 6', 200 lbs. Anti-perspirant & deoodrant helps but only for a few months at a time.

Then I have to switch brands because I guess my BO is so powerful it adapts to it! I've cycled through Degree, Axe, Sure, and Right Guard (all solids).

You might go see a doctor about it. Shaving your pits might help, but you shouldn't have to do that. Do you eat weird stuff or something?

Not really, but walking around smelling like a gym bag isn't exactly a big plus either. Hence my "go see a doctor" comment

nah, pretty normal stuff. It's not that my shirts are soaked... around mid-day it starts to get a little musty. Not overpowering, but if you get close there's a light essence. :frown:

I get the ones labeled as both. do you mean get the ones ONLY labeled as anti-perspirants?

Although I'm sure it's ok for guys not to have armpit hair, cuz some people just don't have armpit hair. But shaving it...

Sweating a lot and smelling a lot aren't always linked. When I work out, I sweat like mad. I look like I ran a marathon even before I'm really breathing too hard. But I don't stink except in the most extreme circumstances. Even a little sweat for someone else might stink a lot more. Sweat is chemically different for everybody, and if yours is particularly aromatic, it might be a medical thing or a diet thing. Worth checking out, I guess.

what would a doctor do? Give a prescription? Examine my diet? Just curious.

Shaving your pit hair won't make you sweat any less, but it will help with any body odor problem you have. The hair keeps the moisture in and allows for bacterial growth.
I think this was why the ancient Egyptians shaved under their arms because they realized it would make them smell better. See?

That, and more.

Try toting a stick of deodorant with you and freshening up around lunchtime or so, for the time being.

I don't think so.

I trim my hair their because I'm a hairy beast.

Diet, genetics, and body size determine it I think.

shaving your pits will also help with your deodorant/antiperspirant. it won't be clinging to your hair and be more on your skin.

EDIT: i suk at spelinge

It would help with odor I think, as bacteria won't shack up in the hair

That's true. Some of the scent is bacteria.

I think other scents are to attract teh ladies.

I started shaving my pits a few months ago because I starting working out...

it doesn't control the sweat, but it does help eliminate most of the stink. Think about it...using AP when you have a bush?! The bush absorbs most of the AP.

works liek a charm I still have some stink, but it's a lot less potent.

I've never seen a guy with clean underarms. That's a bit disturbing, IMHO, unless you're gay or you haven't gone through puberty.

In any case, have you tried those crystals/natural underarm deodorants? Some of them are not anti-persperants, but it 'neutralizes' your BO. Just a thought.
