I prefer my pop in a can, though I did have it in a glass bottle once and it was probably even better. I find there really is a different taste when it's in a plastic bottle. It's not really that it's bad, but I just prefer in a can. If I want a pop I'll take it in whatever format available and won't really be picky though. I usually drink pepsi but I'll drink pretty much anything else too. I've cut back quite a lot though and drink mostly club soda now, it's basically just carbonated water. Sometimes you just want something more than just water, so that acts as a replacement for pop.

Can, poured into a glass. Best of both worlds.

A can protects against UV light and generally keeps the drink fresh and non-skunky, but sucking on an aluminum can is not very pleasant.

Tastes best out of a bottle when ice cold.
Tastes 2nd best out of a can.
Tastes bad out of a plastic bottle (maybe because it doesn't get as cold in the time between it is loaded in the fridge and I buy it).

Ughh waitress brought me a coke today at lunch. It was nearly transparent. I'm sure there is a steep learning curve associated with writing an order down and delivering food, but how do you not notice that you're basically bringing me club soda with some food coloring in it?
Most importantly, did you tip?

I am an avid Coke drinker (it's my one vice in life)
I can no longer drink from cans -- it sucks.
Bottle are OK, but poured into a nice glass, with a couple of ice cubes is infinitely better than any other option.

Classic Coke from aluminum cans = heaven. Love the new 16 oz cans.

Glass. The coke dissolves the lining in an aluminum can and an eventually can expose you to the aluminum which causes Alzheimer's. Hell even when the lining works it isn't good for you, as it's not BPA-free most of the time.

I thought that whole aluminum and alzheimer's thing was at best inconclusive and most likely a myth.

I don't think you can even buy most types of soda in glass bottles around here. Those went the way of the dodo back in the 1980's. You can still buy the stuff imported from Mexico in bottles though.

Stop. Just stop.

I swear there's more idiocy, misinformation and fear-mongering out there perpetuated by either extremely lazy or downright dishonest individuals.:

Alz.org said:
Myth 4: Drinking out of aluminum cans or cooking in aluminum pots and pans can lead to Alzheimer’s disease.

Reality: During the 1960s and 1970s, aluminum emerged as a possible suspect in Alzheimer’s. This suspicion led to concern about exposure to aluminum through everyday sources such as pots and pans, beverage cans, antacids and antiperspirants. Since then, studies have failed to confirm any role for aluminum in causing Alzheimer’s. Experts today focus on other areas of research, and few believe that everyday sources of aluminum pose any threat.

Myth: Drinking out of aluminum cans or cooking in aluminum pots and pans can lead to Alzheimer's disease.

Reality: Based on current research, getting rid of aluminum cans, pots, and pans will not protect you from Alzheimer's disease. The exact role (if any) of aluminum in Alzheimer's disease is still being researched and debated. However, most researchers believe that not enough evidence exists to consider aluminum a risk factor for Alzheimer's or a cause of dementia.

Scientific American said:
Two more researchers have responded to this question. Leonard Berg is a professor of neurology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis; until recently, he directed the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center there. He replies:
"There is no proof, and the current consensus is that aluminum does not play a major role in the development of Alzheimer's disease. But because the causes of the disorder are not understood at this time, one cannot rule out the possibility that aluminum could play a minor role. In our Center, we do not recommend that people avoid aluminum cooking pans or aluminum-containing antiperspirants or antacids because there is little evidence that such lifestyle changes are helpful. Moreover, it is impossible to avoid ingesting a certain amount of aluminum, which is found naturally in food and water."

Can for Coke. But a properly calibrated soda fountain with ice > *

Basically this, although I'm a Dr. Pepper/Mr. Pibb person myself. Can is always better than plastic, but a good fountain is always best. And by good fountain, I mean "Not A Coke Freestyle Fountain".

pop is the correct word, not "soda"

I was actually asked this question in a job interview. I responded with "I think both of them are technically correct". Both of the interviewers agreed (to disagree with each other), and we all had a laugh.

I still didn't get the job, though.

People still drink coke?

I'm a Monster or Red Bull drinker. No/Low sugar all the way. I'll put the drink in a sports bottle. Tasty that way.

I highly doubt #1 is the best. What makes the soda taste best is the maximum, unadulterated carbonation that makes the drink extremely 'pop' in your mouth.

If it comes out of fountain and has to hit another vessel for drinking, you lose considerable amount of fizz. This is unavoidable how careful you pour it (aka slowly at an angle).

The best has to be glass and/or can which is factory carbonated and sealed shut. And it goes straight to your mouth.

I've been Coke Factory in ATL. Calibrated or not, they were nothing special.

What..... Monster and Red Bull have TONS of sugar, even more than soda. Where do you think all the sweet taste come from?

Red Bull is 37g sugar at 12 oz- literally same amount of sugar as coke.

Monster.. boy, I bet that's even more.

That's what makes draught best. It gets rid of excess carbonation. Bottles especially leave you feeling like there's a foam ball in your stomach.

Monster/Red Bull do have no sugar drinks as well. I try to stick to one of those.
