Does the Gigabyte 8IGXP exist?

I just read the 845G roundup by Tom's hardware, and the Gigabyte board review he claims to be GA-8IGXP. Well, I looked all over the Gigabyte's website, and it looks like only the 8IGX exist. Plus, look at the box:

TomsHardware Intel 845G roundup

it clearly says P4 Titan 533 845E, not G. So does the 8IGXP exist? An 845G chipset based board with all those features (USB 2.0, firewire, Promise RAID, 6 channel sound), vcore upto 1.85 and memory upto 2.8? I would trade my EPoX 4G4A+ for this in a heartbeat....

Can someone confirm this?

I have been interested in this board for a while as well but it doesnt seem to exist in retail. If you look at toms intial review of the i845g chipset it says he is using the Gigabyte GA-8IGXP as his test board for the i845g chipset. There is also a page on the gigabyte website: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/products/8igxp.htm that shows the board but there is no way to it through the Gigabyte website... you have to go directly to that page. So it does look like it is a real board but when it ships.. who knows.

I sure hope they release it soon. There are a lot of 845G chipset boards already, and Gigabyte is really missed out on the market right now. Especially since it is so feature packed.

I have also been looking for this motherboard and am unable to find any information on it. I would really like to buy it, especially after reading the review on tomshardware.

I also noticed that the webpage for it ( http://www.giga-byte.com/products/8igxp.htm ) is no longer there... what does this mean?

I would also really like to know the answer to this. Anyone have any ideas if this is ever going to show up or if gigabyte just decided to only make them to be reviewed.

So the EPoX 4G4A+ isnt very good? Because thats the only other board with compairable features.

I also have been looking for info on release dates from Gigabye, and what I found will upset you. After I could not locate any place to buy the board from I searched the web of course. After finding Gigabytes US web page referencing the board ( http://www.giga-byte.com/products/8igxp.htm ) and another site that said the release date for the US market was the end of July. Since the date at this point was 7/30/02, I got more determined and called Gigabyte's California office and asked a sales person there if the board was available from the manufacturer, but he was unaware of the 8igxp's existance. I pointed him to the webpage with product specs and to his suprise there was the 8igxp in all its glory. When I asked again when the release date was he said he would have to transfer me to the marketing department. After being transfered I spoke with a person about the board and again they were unaware of the board so I pointed her to the webpage and pointed out another error on the website ( http://www.giga-byte.com/products/8ig.htm ) this board has no rj45 on it. she thanked me for the info and asked how I knew obout the board and how I found the link. I asked her to email me with the info she wanted (as I was a liitle busy because of a smal system faiure that popped up) and I would provide as much info as possible.

Anyways, that was getting long winded fast (I do that sometimes) so heres the scoop i got. There are currently no plans to release this board (8igxp) in the US market and therefore no release dates.

After finding this out I mailed Tom's Hardware Guide for my first time.

First off I would like to thank you site for offering free insigtfull reviews over the past few years I have been visiting.

THE BEEF.

After reading the first installment of your review titled "DDR333 for P4: 16 Boards with Intel 845G - Part I" I was quite impressed with how Gigabyte has come along as a competitive if not superior motherboard manufacturer. Not only was I impressed by the benchmarks, but the feature set was outstanding. The only thing that could have been added to the Gigabyte 8iGXP would be serial ATA.

Now the Problem, after reading the review I went looking for the motherboards mentioned, and sadly the Gigabyte 8iGXP wasn't to be found for sale. After some extensive searching I broke down and called Gigabyte's California, USA offices to find an official release date. When I asked the sales staff if they knew anything about the 8iGXP, they had no idea the board existed. So I quickly got myself in touch with the Marketing team there and started asking questions. The down and dirty is that they have no current plans to release this board in the US market, and quite frankly she was suprised that I found a reference webpage for the board on thier website ( http://www.giga-byte.com/products/8igxp.htm ) which they have since pulled it would appear. if you search for the 8igxp on google you can still see the page cached there.
the reason I bring this to your attention is so you can see what markets this board will be released in, or hopefully persuade them to release it in the US market too. (me smiles)

Request too editors:

I was hoping thatwe could see some benchmarks and reviews of the different inegrated peripherals we are seeing on modern motherboards. for instance what are the differences between the audio chips being put on motherboards and thier respective performance. IE: Real ALC650, Creative CT5880-DEQ, AD1981A, ALCxxx, etc. just from your 845g chip review alone.

Sorry for the long winded email, I just wanted to give as much info as possible. If your require anymore specific information from me please feel free to ask.

I am still in contact with the california offices trying to convince them that this board would be a smash in the US market and would indeed have them positioned as the premier 845g board on the market.

Again to all, sorry to be long winded, but lots of information is better than none.

Thankyou,
FodderMAN

Hmm, thanks for the info. So does this mean there are people in some other market that can buy these? The value of the dollar isn't so bad, I mean I have imported DVDs from out of the country why not motherboards?

The GA-8IGXP would definitly be my choice since I´m very happy with my 8IRXP, except the f§$/§"%§$ boot issue.
Can´t understand Gigabyte´s decision not to sell this thing
