Does the Panaflo FBA09A12H 92mm fan have RPM sensing?

92mm Panaflo case fan with modular connector. Comes with 3 bare wires and additional connector for 3 pin header.

This means it has RPM sensors?

More the picture, really. I take the "additional connector for 3 pin header" to mean a sensor wire, plus there's a yellow wire in the image which means it can report its RPM.

It might; you need the ENTIRE part number to tell. There's another three numbers AFTER the model number you listed.

See the Panaflo Master Sheet Here

You do know that the "H" on the end of the model number indicates a Highspeed fan though, right? A better choice might be the FBA09A12M fan, which is what I have on my SLK900 which cools my main rig.

good luck getting the duct to fit, or is the the duct with the fan mount option? make sure because some of them are special fans with the 2 clips for the duct to swivel on built right into the fan casing.

As MichaelD said, if the reseller doesnt specifically say RPM sensing, I would assume it does not support it. FrozenCPU specifically sells RPM sensing ones. As does sidewindercomputers.com.

Thanks, I'll take a look right now.

Btw, the High speed fan is out of stock EVERYWHERE!! and most places are out of stock for the Medium one...

I just was thinking of using the High, since the fan that is on there is supposed to be a 115CFM fan when at max RPM. I didn't want to go with the M just to find out that my P4 overheating, and shifting itself down.

Edit:

I took a look and it looks like the fan has the two clips that allows the duct to swing out of the case.

So, I guess these would be my options?

1. Replace fan, use duct tape/packing tape to tape the duct back on.
2. Replace the whole HSF unit to something like Thermalright SP-97 and stick a 80mm Panaflo on it (or still 92mm).
3. Suck it up, and try to mentally block out the hair dryer noise coming from the default fan.

is this still under warranty? if so call dell they'll send you another fan, if not call them anyway and see what it costs, thier 120mm fans should be whisper quiet (I replace them all the time, I'm a Field Engineer for smartech-csi, we do lots of Dell warranty calls) unless the ambient temp is over ~85-90F.

You mean they can send me a 120mm fan to replace my 92mm fan? and a duct to fit it? And even then, I don't think there's enough room for a 120mm fan where the 92mm is, and the grate(is that the right term? The opening where fan blows out) is 92mm size also.

It's a DATECH DS9238-12HBTL-A. It's thermal sensing, auto RPM adjusting fan. When I am just doing things like word processing, email, web browsing, it is very very quiet.

When I start to run games (CPU usage going to 50%-100% for P4 3.2GHz with HT), the fan dramatically speeds up, sounding like a hand vac.

Is that similar to what you have?

Dude...

I think you had the right idea when you said that maybe you ought to replace the heatsink.

Dell wouldn't put a 115CFM fan on a box unless they HAD to.
The only widely available fans with similar specs are the Vantec Tornado and the Delta Screamer!
I don't think it is a good idea to reduce cfms without compensating somewhere else.

Have you tried mbm5 to see if you can monitor temps?
Some of the Dells (I believe you can)

Actually a 92mm H1A is still a pretty loud fan. You can probably find better.
Nebor said in another post that the Acoustifan 92mm is the quietest of that size.

What were they thinking putting in a screamer like that.
Better heatsink, more fans lower cfms would be more efficient!

P4 3.2GHz with HT that would likely be the culprit,

I've been telling the phone support guys for a while all the HT procs are running to hot when actually being used for cpu intensive tasks.
The cases aren't designed for moving enough air for the higher performing systems. best thing I could tell you would be to get a psu that would move more air, and perhaps a pci slot fan (if you can find one that's actually quiet to move more air through the case. they really need to have an intake fan (at least optional) on these cases for the faster systems.

edit: most people who by the 4600 usually don't get anything faster than the 2.8Ghz 533 fsb procs.

I've tried, but no temp monitoring on this mobo.

So I've gathered from searching on the web, that all I can basically do, is to run something like PCMarks along with CPU Burn-in to get the temp up, and see if there is a significant difference in score between the two fans...

What do you guys think of that?
