Does this beer taste like bitter piss because I don't like IPA's or what?

Got tired of reading, but meh. You like what you like.

I've been on an IPA kick lately, also like dark beers, porters etc. They get too fancy on the dark beers and they can get a sweetness I don't like. Though Youngs Double Chocolate is delicious.

I think of myself as a beer guy, but I can't stand Belgians and it is the rare hefe/wheat beer I can put up with. Eventually you learn not to force it, drink what you like, different strokes for different folks.

So my opinion, 90 minute is great, but too pricey. Like most dogfish. Local macros are better for less $.

I opened this can, thought--wtf, shit tastes just like Budweiser? label on the can said "Brewed by Annhiesur Busch." Not distributed, not imported, but brewed.

Figures, it was $8 for a 12pack of cans. lol.

I'm okay with Budweiser brewing kirin's recipe (but kirin is also on the bottom of my japanese totem pole). Seems pretty par for japanese beers.

Asahi is produced by Molson in Canada[4], Kirin is produced at an Anheuser-Busch facility in Los Angeles, and Sapporo is produced at a Sapporo-owned brewery in Guelph, Ontario, Canada

when i was in korea i was sitting on the rooftop of my apartment in seoul, drinking two of those bad boys. finished the second one and puked all over the roof.

East Coast IPA's are not very hoppy or near as bitter as West Coast IPA's.

Had some breckenridge vanilla porter today on draft a block from my apartment. Was a bit of a "dessert beer" but was pretty yummy.

Then I came home and put away a few rogue dead guys and made out with a chick for a bit.

In my fridge right now is a moderately bitter IPA i just made. In my secondary is a rye pale ale that I dry hopped (but shouldn't be very bitter), and on deck is a chocolate oatmeal stout that I should be making this weekend.

I like beer in general especially stouts and ales.

I'll give this pliny the elder a shot and then if that's a bust I'll just write off IPA's for a few years.

lol, you're "meh" about IPAs, but you have one of the most sought after IPAs around. The bitterness is what IPAs are all about and its an acquired taste. Drinking a heavily hoppy beer (Pliny) is just gonna make you hate it more. You have to start smaller.

All the beers you mentioned like corona, stella, asian beers, etc are all weak/lighter than IPAs. So you're not gonna like it.

If you want to build up to IPA, try a Pale Ale, its a lighter version of an IPA. Or...I know this sounds crazy, but try a double or triple IPA thats 12%+ ABV. The higher ABV actually makes it taste sweeter because of the extra sugar needed to produce the high alcohol. A 12% IPA will be less bitter than a 7-9% IPA.

Its not bad, but I don't really prefer lagers because they don't generally have powerful/complex tasting beer. Lagers are brewed cold, whereas Ales are brewed warm. IMO warm brewing creates more flavors.

Beer snobs only like IPAs because they only flavor they appreciate (or have been told to appreciate) is hops. I had a Bell's Two Hearted because someone told me it was the best beer ever, and it was disgusting. Like drinking pine needles dunked in pine sol.

Lol, Thats one of the biggest reasons I love Two Hearted. Pine needles up the nostrils!

IPAs for me is like drinking perfume, I can handle the bitterness but I just don't like the bright flavors. I prefer the darker ales for the maltier aromas and flavors.

One beer that I just can't handle the bitterness would be Leinenkugel's Red Lager, thought it would be similar to Killian's which is one of my preferred macros when I don't feel like spending 15$ a 6pack on guests, was definitely wrong.

I did enjoy blind pig (6.1%) vs dfh (9%)

I consider english style IPA beers to be balanced and american style IPA beers to be over the top hoppy.

Honestly, I find I just don't like anything over 70 IBUs in most cases. There are of course always exceptions.
