I am new to upgrading stuff and want to install a new mobo+cpu

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/products/6vx7b_4x.htm

I have a 1gig 100mhz bus fc-pga celeron and was wondering if the earliest BIOS supports it cos I dont know what BIOS this mobo has and if my cpu is unsupported I guess the PC will be dead and I cant flash the BIOS .
Here are the BIOS lists http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/support/via694x_old.htm#link6vx74x

Also does my cpu have a 10X multiplier? I need to know for the dip switch settings.

This mobo is ata100 and my HD is ata66 (im gettin a new one),do i just plug it in to the new mobo and away it goes like now or is it incompatible?Do I need adapters? Do I need to reinstall thru a disk or something? Same goes for agp card and modem.

while i have not much exp. with this board and intel CPU in general.... i hope i can answer some of them.

Not sure the BIOS will support it or not. But i think you can run your CPU at lower speed and you should be able to upgrade the BIOS.

Also does my cpu have a 10X multiplier? I need to know for the dip switch settings.
yes, has more that 10X, check the manual pdf on the board's webpage.

This mobo is ata100 and my HD is ata66 (im gettin a new one),do i just plug it in to the new mobo and away it goes like now or is it incompatible?
Yes, it can support ATA66. But make sure you are using the ATA66/100/133 cable (all same, with more finer lines than the ATA33) to connect. should be no problem.

Do I need to reinstall thru a disk or something?
you mean OS? It is better to reinstall OS (windows) for a new mb because there may be driver conflict. It save you more time than to find out why it does not go smoothly. To backup old data is always wise.

Same goes for agp card and modem.
why agp card you were using before? i think it should be ok, just plug in. For modem, unless you are using ISA, most PCI modem work as the same.

Your CPU should work on your intial boot, although you may have to change some settings for it. You would want to update the bios to version 6vx7_4x_f45.zip, dated Dec. 18, 2001, anyway. You can find instructions for doing that on the same page as the motherboard info.
As to your hardware (modem, agp card), it should all work as long as you have the proper drivers for the OS you will be intalling. Look to the manufacturers websites for those. If you use XP most of the drivers will probably not be needed, but don't leave it to chance; download the latest drivers and have them on hand.
As to the 10X multiplier; that is a good question. According to this page, your 1.0 gb celeron does use a 10X multiplier and the list of available multipliers for the board doesn't show that as an available option. HOWEVER, I just downloaded the pdf manual and it clearly shows the 10X multiplier as a settable option on the MB. You would find them on P. 7 of that manual, where it shows the settings for SW1 (frequency or FSB) and SW2 (Frequency). You would set the first to 100 mhz and the second to 10X and you are good to go. That should be an option no matter what your BIOS is. But you should still update the BIOS to the latest version.
As for your hard drive, as was mentioned, just use the correct cable. It will usually have a blue connector on one end that goes to the MB. It will be listed as an ATA (or UDMA) 66/100 or 100/133 cable. Either way it is fully compatible but yes, you would need an OS disk and your program disks to reinstall everything on your system after you switch things out. Make sure you back up all your info to some sort of removeable media so you can reload it later.
Looks like you are good to go with your CPU and MB. Good luck!
