I just saw them up here in Maine the other day, they are moving down horizontally from Canada, everyone says they put our major coffee chains to shame, any of you people drank / ate there?

UPDATE Aug. 30: Tried Tim Hortons last night. Iced Capp's are a bit pricy, but very tasty, even my lady, the non-coffee lover that she is though they were good. (I think the coffee in it isn't as strong as other places, but they mix it well).

So I got my first Hot Coffee tonight and am about to taste it as I type this.

It's...Not as good as Starbucks, but better than truckstop coffee, and costs a buck seventy-five for a large, so a good deal.

Summary: Unless I need a really nice treat, Tim Hortons gives a decent product for a decent price.

no they are moving vertically down from canada.

some facts off the top of my head at 1am:

1. tim horton was a hockey player who created this empire in the 60s with ron joyce
2. store #1 is in hamilton ontario
3. tim horton died at martindale rd in st. catharines ontario while driving to a sabres hockey game
4. head office is in oakville ontario
5. their slogan is 'always fresh' but don't count on it
6. they are just starting mastercard in canada but have been accepting credit cards in the US forever
7. they find new ways all the time to start cheaping out on things (donuts, cookies)
8. i used to work at a couple
9. the coffee is alright. i mostly drink tea. steeped tea there is not so great if you're not masking the taste with milk or sugar
10. i dunno, try it

You guys have a lot of info. I was surprised.

...Okay I'll give them a shot Tuesday.

...Wow.

Do they make drinks like Capps., Lattes, etc..?

They use good beans?

Most bakeries aren't that great so I won't expect much there anyhow.

They sell coffee and Iced Cappuccino's. I don't think they sell any of the specialty coffee's like Starbucks does, 'cause I've never ordered one. They sell donuts and whatnot, unlike Starbucks (at least, the Starbucks here doesn't).

Tim Horton's and hockey are really the only two unique things about Canada. However, the only thing unique about it is how ingrained into our culture they are.

They don't make much for specialized stuff. Coffee, Cafe Mocha, Iced Cappucino, but really not a ton else.

Who owns Tim Horton's now if Wendy's doesn't?

Tim Horton's is more of an Eastern Canadian thing. It's prevalent out West as well, but not nearly to the same extent.

Well now I'm very excited.

Should be fun.

...No one on this board lives in Maine. Except me.

Honestly, don't get your hopes up too much. It's just above average coffee, nothing spectacular.

QFT. It's just something that's ingrained in Canadian culture. There's nothing really special about it. I do like Country Style, Coffee Time (Central Ontario mainly) and Robin's Donuts (Northern Ontario mainly) a bit better.

I'm so conflicted.

my canadian pride says "yes," but my Jersey pride says "dunkin' donuts ftw!"

the first time i went to a tim horton's was in vancouver. i gotta say, their coffee and donuts are fantastic - it's just as good as dunkin donuts, and it certainly puts krispy kreme's faux-donut crap to shame.

I go to both Tim Horton's and Starbucks. The latter has really strong coffee, which I like at certain tims. Tim Horton's is good when I want something a little more diluted (aka masked with cream and sugar).

What do you mean it never happens?

I have no clue what that's trying to show either.

(Roll up the Rim to Win is the big Tim Horton's marketing thing...but it doesn't show what he won or didn't win...)
