Does your dog do this?

My dog LOVES burying his muzzle into a tight spot.

He would always do this into pillows, blankets, my bent elbow and armpit. Then he would just stay still, close his eyes, and breathe deeply- since his nose is partially blocked anyway.

I guess it's sort of therapeutic for him. Is he getting high from self-induced asphyxiation?

I think all dogs do that when they are feeling content about something. My dog usually does it after I feed him, or when he comes back from a good walk.

My first dog when I was young was like that. She'd sleep with her head under a chair and would steal blankets off the bed, do a few spins until she was completely cocoon-ed in it and then lie down for a nap. I think she had some Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal blood in her, she thought that if she couldn't see us we couldn't see her.

I've had a bunch of dogs since then and none of the others have done anything like that.

Both of my Daschunds burrow big-time, of course they are burrowers by instinct. They will burrow in any blanket they can find and completely wrap themselves up. Since they are mini Daschunds you have to be careful what blankets you might hit with your foot. You would never know but this picture contains two Daschunds submerged under blankets.

Ive noticed my basset will do that in the morning before I take her out. She will try to burrow her head under my leg. I think it might be because I am loving on her and she is just enjoying the pets.

My chihuahua mix will curl up under blankets or hide his nose under your leg/arm/etc.

My dog would bury his face in the crack between the cushion and the couch and dig his face like there's hidden treasure.

Some dogs are the opposite, I've had a beagle that would sleep with his entire body under a towel or blanket but leave his nose uncovered.

lol we had 4 mini daschunds. you NEVER step on a blanket or jump on a bed.

one way to drive them nuts is get under a blanket and talk. then don't let them in!
