Alright, I just upgraded from a p4 2.8 @ 3.2ghz to an AMD socket 754 3700+.
WELL, I have an Enermax 330W PSU, 2 hard drives, no overclocking at the moment, all PCI full, nvidia 6800 and DVD burner.
When I had the p4 installed, every now and then, and mostly with photoshop use, my psu would make a periodic 'hiss' noise. Whenever I put the CPU under load (or in photoshop whenever I stopped using a tool), the psu would hiss.
After upgrading to the current AMD, I've found the PSU consistantly hisses, unless I'm under nearly 75% or fuller CPU load.
Whenever the cpu is around 30-50% load (lets say itunes visualization, etc), I get a hissing in intervals (yes, like it's singing a melody to me).
Anyway, is this something to worry about? Should I upgrade to something like an Enermax 460W (which I can get at a resonable price at the moment).
I'd rather not spend the money, but I've never liked the idea of a hissing PSU.
Ideas?
Ben
